2005 S600 with AMG Parts? WTH?
Hello all! I'm on the lookout for a fun well-priced 4-door as my family will be expanding by one and my wife won't go for using the cargo straps to secure the carseat in the back of the SL55.
I've been looking for S600s and S65s and stumbled onto a weird case I hope someone here can help me with.
This dude CLAIMS there was an AMG package option for the 2005 S600. It has the AMG badge on the back. V12 BiTurbo badges on the front quarters and the AMG Engine cover.
However, it DOES have the S600 badge on the back, and "Mercedes" (NOT AMG) on the door sill covers and brakes.
It also has single tips on the exhaust and I think the 65s had dual tips....
So question for the board... DID they make an AMG package for S600s in 2005? Or did someone go to great lengths to begin "badging" an S600 to an S65.
Secondly, what ballpark should I expect to pay for one of these with about 100k on it?
Thanks in advance.

Basically you have a S600 with the AMG appearance package. The badge was slapped on there by the previous owner or dealer and they put the badges on the engine as well as the cover. I highly doubt they did the engine swap lol. The car is not a AMG but just has the looks of one. Its a 2005 S600. Also, run the vin on it as well and get the history of the car. Figure paying about $9,000 if the car is perfection.

I’ve seen that car, but not in person. All badgineering. Badges aren’t even in the right place. I was surprised by the engine cover as well. Didn’t they replace the brakes as well? Not hard to do, if you’re willing to scour the parts yards, Mannheim auctions, IAA, etc. I can’t give you a price as I see zero reason to buy it. Find a 55 that same year for the same money, more lively car, easier and cheaper to maintain, and more reliable but just as safe.

They only offered an AMG appearance package. Most noticeably was a more aggressive front bumper. Common on 500s and 600s in W215s and W220s as well. You gotta remember these cars are close to 15 years old, even genuine amg cars are often found with extra badges or poorly placed badges from bad body work. Does the current owner have a great service history on the car? ABC suspension is the biggest maintenance item, no different than the SL55. If you plan on keeping the SL55, the V12TT will allow you to appreciate the best of both worlds. Its much quieter and less neck snappy making for a great baby mobile, but the torque will continue to push you back in the seat, in a surprising way. Easier to sneak up past 100mph without getting caught by the wife. If you put a simple tune in the car, and it has the older part number coils, they may fail and need replacement. At this point, considering the age, there is a good chance they have been replaced. A tuned S600 will be a much quieter and faster family car than a tuned S55 if performance is something you are looking for.

The carbon fiber part of that cover doesn't look like it fits well. Looks like the air intake tubes hold it up too high. My '08 is flush with the oil filter housing cap and fits better in the back also.

Ok, now it's mine, so feel free confirm or disprove the validity of the AMG package on the 2005 S600. I would really like to know myself. I found very few references in Wiki to support it, but nowhere have I seen specs or parts lookups for that model.
I'd be glad to share answers to questions anyone has. I bought a 2000 S500 4 years ago and decided to upgrade to the S600 and waffled between a 2006 (as I like the body style) and a 2007 because of the tech advances. When I saw the 2005 with AMG (advertised as rare) and had never seen one before, I had to have it. Thanks for the help.

The S65 did not come until 2006.
