I read about that in the M3Forum. No SClass has to worry about that, unless you straight-piped it, which almost no one ever does. And if they did, they deserve the fine.

Not loud. Sounds nice when u floor it, but legal.

Not going to get a fine.

I have seen one E-63 that deserved the fine... Alas; here in Washington State. He had given it headers, removed all cats and mufflers with straight pipes to the rear of the car. Pure NASCAR and easily over 120db when he stood on it. My ears still ring and he was 50 yards away.

I have family in California, they did mention me to leave my s55 if I ever come by , that new law is getting a lot of people hurt 🤥

Is that your S-65 at Bellingham MB?

It specifies a 45 degree angle half a meter away and a constant rpm, not "revving it up." I don't have resonators on mine and it's real loud, but only under heavy throttle, so the "constant rpm" part of the law is what keeps a lot of us from getting in trouble.

Heres a sound comparison page which helps with judging how loud your exhaust could be to keep within the law.
http://www.industrialnoisecontrol.co...e-examples.htm
You may be surprised at how quiet you exhaust actually is.
Dont know how it works in California, but here the police would have to supply evidence in court that the exhaust was too loud.
This would have to be a print out from a government certified machine, a cop saying it was too loud wouldnt be accepted as proof.
As most of our police forces dont have such machines, anyone that gets stopped with a noisy exhaust gets away with a warning.
The burdon is on the police to prove that you have broken the law, not for you to prove that you didnt.

My S55 was a lot quieter than 95db even after I had the resonators removed.

With any exhaust work , they do transform into "jet taking off mode".
