Just bought a 2011 s65 w 67k miles

Here is the link to the car . It’s a great machine with lots of power . Bought it as a daily drive and I also have the 2018 e63s . Here is the link to the s65
just notice one issue with the car which the ABC malfunction and the car is little lowered due to the abc light . Any suggestion what could be the issue ? I’ve had a Cl63 in the past and never had this kinda issue . Should I be worried about something major issue with the suspension. I was able to get a hold of the previous owner which stated the car didn’t have that issue when he traded it in so I’m guessing someone tried to play with the car to cause the light to come on and lower the car to try to get it cheaper from the auction .

The suspension is something that unfortunately can require ongoing maintenance due to the complexity of the system, and while I would not think you have a "major issue with the suspension" it could need maintenance such as bleeding or and fluid change, and a rodeo procedure done. Although ABC work is typically not inexpensive, the cost of repair should not be a surprise based on the MSRP of that car and the caliber of the S65.

sl600
you brought a 2011 s65 as a daily compared to a 2018 e63s, umm i think you got it the wrong way, new e class has better gas mileage, newer tech, cost less to maintain driving everyday, 4 wheel drive more practical in all weather conditions, less prone to leaving you stuck as oppose a aging car, great fun car for city driving, way better taking off from a stop light AWD.

but nevertheless a v12 car is plenty of fun and will be alot better at highway speeds, thats like the only time my sl600 is awaken, city driving is docile and horrid gas mileage (14mpg) but ever now & then i get looks and questions of is that a v12 & its twin turbo. (v12's are a rare dying breed, and one day these amg cars might be classics of the brawling v12 age)

so great car, have fun, & stay ahead of maintenance, ENJOY

also regarding about abc issue, make sure there's no slow leaking abc lines, cycle the height settings and see if it change the height and how quickly (the height should change in 1 to 2 second) note this test show how well the pump is circulating the fluid, also do a abc fluid flush (chf-11s). And star diagnostic tool will be an good investment, and worst case scenario, take it to dealership or Mercedes mechanic to run tests to atleast find out the issue

Sounds to me like fluid may be low. Do a fluid flush, filter, refill and rodeo as has been suggested and take it from there. The fluid is simple pentosin, doesn’t last forever, contrary to popular belief (or MB spec). After that, it’s probably a good idea to do all the dampers. I’d do all of that in one job, likely around $1500. GL. Nice car.

cheers,

maw
