Also quick note, I’ve been trying to diagnose this issue for some months now, and checked all fuses including fuse noses in trunk and footwell. It’s just one of those things that Im pretty much frustrated with and want to drive the car lol I live in Fontana CA in case you guys recommend any local shops as well
THANK YOU ALL!!

Thank you! I’ll definitely keep that in mind since I do have to do emissions at the beginning of next year. I appreciate it 👍
if you buy a complete set from a donor car and you just install, program the engine's module to your car's options (if needed) = you will be driving someone else's VIN
buying a new or virgin EIS or EIZ just requires adaption = you will be driving your vin
buying a used EIS or EIZ and have yours cloned to it by a local locksmith (requires sending yours) = you will be driving your VIN
Incidentally, I had a similar issue with my shifter which prompted me to purchase a virgin rebuilt through Beckmann Technologies for considerably a lower price. Installed and coded by my local MBZ indy - parts & labor came to about $500 and change. I will add that Beckmann replaces the internal plastic lever with a custom machined aluminum and you do hear ever so slightly a metal tone upon engagement in gears.

When you adapt a new one to your car, it downloads the SmartKey information from the EIS to the shifter numerically hashed, and if the key used in the EIS is recognized by the EIS, it requests authorization from the ESM in hashed format, and if that matches what is stored in the ESM, it is then sent to the ECU in hashed format to see if it matches one of the 8 “key tracks” that can be stored. If all three modules agree that they know the key ID or based ID, they will all send a Start Enable message to the EIS and then the EIS will unlock allowing you to rotate the key and start the vehicle. If one module does not recognize the key, I the EIS will prohibit turning the key in the EIS and will not send the Start Enable message to the ECU. If you bypassed the starter relay manually, the ECU will not activate the ignition or fuel pump therefore prohibiting start.
One thing to keep in mind is that the EIS stores a copy of the vehicles mileage. Changing out the EIS even if the ESM and ECU are changed as well will break the Drive Authorization System information the Instrument Cluster has learned from your vehicle, and will likely cause your odometer to display “———“ in place of the mileage which is displayed when the mileage is unknown or is suspect of tampering.
