is $46,000 too much? Dealer had it for 50,000. I don’t want to pay more then $40,000.

That's a lot of miles, but if it's good shape and that's what you're looking for, then offer what you think it's worth to you. If that number is $40k, offer $40k and see what they say. They will most likely scoff at you at how you could insult them with an offer like that, but feel free to remind them that they'd do the same if they were buying your car as a trade-in. (and then they'll say well we're a business and we're here to make money, and you'll say well I'm a consumer looking to maximize my money).

I'd get a good vehicle inspection if you can't do one yourself, you need to get under the car and remove the lower engine cover, you also need to check things like the cam phaser and position sensor connections for oil and have the cooling system pressure tested. If you don't turn your own wrenches the repairs will be costly. And I agree if all checks out, offer $40k, coupes aren't selling well and this is a high miler, my guess its been on the market for awhile, so see if they bite at your offer.

Have it inspected by a dealer or someone who is VERY familiar with these cars. They are great cars but require ongoing maintenance. An experienced mechanic can check to see what was done through the years and what needs to be done to ensure the car is in good shape. While i'm not too concerned about the high mileage, I am concerned if proper and timely maintenance wasn't done. (It can get very costly...

I would look for a better car. you spend 45k, and you may need 25k in work. Im not into hi mileage cars that are so expensive to maintain.
so go find a much better car for 55-60k

There are better cars. This is probably a $35K car..... max.
