Car went in last Monday for a 5-6 day spa treatment, picking it up in the next day or two. More pics to follow once it is back.

I'm considering a custom dyno tune with downpipes next, a good local shop just did another S63 and achieved about 600/722 (@wheel/crank) hp on 91 pump gas.

Work done so far:

• Magnetite black > Avery Dennison satin pearlescent white
• Standard trim > Avery Dennison gloss black carbon fiber (looks great btw)
• Standard grey calipers > Burnt Copper
• Standard 5 spoke alloy wheels > OEM black forged 10-spoke
• Porterfield RS-4 carbon/kevlar low dust brake pads
• Llumar CTX 50 (windshield) /15 elsewhere

Interior is good to go, nothing needed... took a while to find a car with the high end audio, designo grey/black exclusive, and nice trim (wanted either stripped piano black or carbon fiber). This one had the warmth and comfort package and heated windshield too, did really need or want them but oh well. I did install the Video-in-Motion patch from Bimmerguru which took less than 5 min and works great.

Before the cosmetic work started, I did order the OEM Swarovski headlamps and carbon fiber trim pieces online, at a very nice discount, but the dealership in Ohio behind the web storefront subsequently refused the order because they were worried about shipping damage. Honestly the CF wrap my shop found looks fantastic, and they said it is durable; we'll have to see how it holds up. I can likely get the headlights if I really wanted, but probably not worth the cost and headache of installing.

Almost done, picking up tonight. Just the roof left to do and circle cutouts for the parking sensors. Badges are back on. I thought about leaving them off, but they had already reapplied them.

This carbon fiber product looks exceptional - it is glossy and has some depth to it. They had it custom printed on Avery Dennison vinyl apparently.

I debated doing the roof panel in gloss black, but am having it done in satin white too. To my eyes the C pillar transition looks awkward without the contiguity of the roof. Maybe that is why Mercedes opts to paints same color as the body. And of course it keeps the OEM look, too.

In case anyone is sick of the copious, sticky brown dust from their AMG composite brakes, the correct Porterfield RS-4 carbon/kevlar pads for the S63 are AP1291 front and AP1669 rear. I'll follow-up on how they perform compared, from my readings they have good grip, no squeal, and generate vastly less dust than the OEM pads.

Wolfman - no lowering done, although after swapping the wheels it seems to sit lower ?

So far so good with the Porterfield RS-4 pads - initial bite and stopping power seem at least as good as the OEM pads, only drove about 8 miles but no dust visible yet.

Work was done by EAWraps in Scottsdale, AZ. For anyone in the area, I highly recommend them - reasonable rates, high quality work, finished on time, and answer to all my inquiries and requests was 'yes'.

It's extremely obvious the car is built on a different and superior frame, and the materials quality is outstanding everywhere. I sat in both a Wraith and CGT and as nice as both are, I prefer the Mercedes' interior.

There is a lot less drama than the CLS when you hit it, shifting and ride are so much smoother, and there is considerably less noise in the cabin - yet it's similarly quick. I guess the extra TQ on the S63 tune counters the additional weight. In sport mode it feels like a much, much lighter car than it is.

Oh, yeah... It becomes an entirely different beast when the red S is present.
And let me tell ya... Again... It never gets old! You've only scratched the surface. The AirMatic suspension is just incredible for both ride quality and handling. The double-pane side windows are a major part of what makes it the quietest car ever made, in addition to being more rigid. And yes, the interior, especially in porcelain, is not only gorgeous but oh so comfy.

Best decision I've made in 10 years. YOLO!

Very nice. Curious why you didn't get one in the factory designo cashmere matte white finish to begin with, was it due to the upkeep of matte paint?

That was my preference, but it is probably the least encountered color and chance of finding one CPO with the interior and options I wanted was nil.

So I opted for a car with the interior and major options I wanted, figuring the exterior color and trim could be change at somewhat reasonable cost.

I have the designo cashmere on my CLS63, it is been extremely easy to maintain. Wash it with a microfiber spongs and foam gun using matte soap and that's it. Had I opted to order a MY17 new I was going to get it again.

First wash this morning... Dirt and dust came right off with Gilmore foam gun and the Chemical Guys matte shampoo which I have been using on the CLS. I dumped a couple gallons of distilled water over the car and wiped dry with a microfiber cloth. A couple dirty areas I went over again with matte quick detailer. Total time was only about 30 minutes. So far so good - washing / cleaning the warp doesn't seem any more difficult than the factory matte paint.

Eary impression of the Porterfield RS-4 brake pads - they are incredible! There was no brake dust on the wheels after a week of driving, although the shop that did the wrap sprayed them with something that apparently helps keep brake dust from sticking. I haven't noticed any difference in brake feel or stopping power either. I'm not sure how they will affect the life of the composite rotors, but they are not terribly expensive so even if I need to replace the rotors a bit sooner, I am absolutely thrilled with these pads!

What a sleek sexy and beautiful machine! I love it. There are a lot of things I like over my CL65 but a few I dont but overall that thing is just beautiful!

Thank you. The CL65 was my dream car before the C217 was announced!

My only real complaint about the car is the fixed panorama roof - why did they leave out the tilt and open capability ? There is plenty of room for the mechanicals and the extra weight would have been irrelevant as the car already comes in around 4800 lb.

Compared to the CLS63-S, it rides VERY differently... for siblings that have very different personalities. The S63 is much more luxury, much less sport. It is much quieter and smoother, yet but just as fast. I'm not missing the extra noise or 'road feel' at all. That said I don't go to the racetrack and local roads are mostly straight.

I considered buying a sports car instead of the S63, but ultimately I just wanted to commute and take short trips in the nicest way possible and always feel I could accelerate faster than anyone beside me, and that is pretty much what the S63 is all about.

I am looking at matte white 2015 s63 coupe as well. Pkg. sounds similar to yours. Can i ask you what pricing you received? Mine has MSRP of about 196 and I'm thinking about 130 is right. any thoughts?

also, CCB - is that something i should look for in aftermkt? or shd i not worry about it?

On a MY17 new order, expect to only get 6-7% off MSRP

If you can find a new MY16 with the colors/options you want, there is a $10,000 incentive to dealers to move the cars; so you can probably get most of the 6-7% plus $10,000 more off the sticker.

My MY15 CPO had 9k miles and final sales price was $133k, with original MSRP about $183k. It was a decent deal for a car that was new in appearance and had the major options I wanted.

CCBs are very expensive to order on a new car ($8950) and significantly more to retrofit on a car without them (probably at least $15k). Very, very few pre-owned cars have them. I decided to have the calipers painted the same color (Honda Burnt Copper is very close match) and installed Porterfield RS-4 carbon-kevlar brake pads. Total cost on the brakes was only around $1250 and am very pleased with the results - in fact I got most of the benefits I was seeking in the CCBs (unique caliper color and absence of brake dust) at a small fraction of the cost. The fade resistence of CCBs was not important to me, as I wasn't planning to take this 4800 lb behemoth to the track. Also the CCBs have some drawbacks - grabby-feel when cold, potential to squeak until hot and very high replacement cost for any damaged rotor - that I won't have to deal with.

There is a pretty loaded matte white MY16 CPO I recently saw in FL, had the Swarovski lamps and exterior carbon fiber package and black forged wheels which my car did not.. with ~ 3k miles it was listed at $160k but might be worth checking out. I'd have certainly pursued it if I didn't have this one already.

Btw the paint job you hd for your s63 - how much did it run? I may try and go your route and get the options and interior i want and get paint job on my own. Not many light colored s63's available.

I assume paint job done not invalidate the CPO warranty?

It's a full vehicle vinyl wrap (Avery-Dennison satin pearl white), not a paint job. Total cost was $3200 to wrap the entire car and various trim pieces (A-wing blade, rear view mirror housings, rocker board inserts, rear diffusor apron). It looks very, very good - perhaps even better than the factory designo magno cashmere paint which I have on my CLS63. So far I'm very pleased with it. Maintenance is the same as the OEM matte paint, just need to be careful to avoid any spills of gasoline or use of petroleum-based solvents, which will damage the vinyl. I just put a paper towel under the fill pipe at the gas station to avoid any drips.

Looks great and awesome car! I am a fan of the designo matte white, though they are hard to come by as CPO or used. Cleaning it is a breeze
