SL63 AMG core fire on the track:(
I went for a track day, first time in my 2009 SL63 AMG. The car is in pristine condition and unmodified. It was at the dealer the week before where it was declared "perfect". After a 1/2 day of high speeds, it started to smoke front driver side as I came off track. Looks like the windshield fluid line came loose or was too close to the manifold and melted and ultimately caught fire. It's fixable but it's going to cost atleast 4K. Of course my track insurance doesn't want to pay citing it as a mechanical breakdown. Has anyone had this kind of issue with their SL before? Any advice would be appreciated. Am I being an idiot for taking this beauty to the track?

Look at it this way - Consider yourself lucky to have this happened at a track and not on a cruise somewhere, leaving you stranded while you watching the car on fire.
Now you know what issue has to be taken care of and it might help other members too.
I think you are lucky in it's own way.

He may have been better off it burned to the ground somewhere else. His personal insurance most likely will not cover unless it was a driver educational event and the track insurance probably only protects against damage from a crash.
