Trade-in for the refresh ?
So I now have the new DOG, was going to post it but the attachment manager isn't working for me. It was put up on the AMG Private Lounge recently, anyone who wants it and does not have access there, feel free to PM me here with your email and I can send it along.
I'm torn on keeping my MY15 for another couple years while under warranty (being a CPO it goes through Jan 2020) versus reserving the new version and trading in to get the tax offset. Seems like there will be a very abbreviated MY18 release, with first cars not arriving until Q2 of 2018, so I'd probably wait at least until MY19 order banks open.
The engines are basically a wash, minimal HP bump on the 4L but same torque, and the 5.5L certainly has more headroom for a tune. Seems like the car's weight has decreased. Exterior and interior styling are not significantly changed, in fact I much prefer the current front bumper and A-wing design. I didn't like the Panamericana grille at first but it is slowly growing on me. I was hoping for an opening/tilting pano roof but that's apparently verboten with the cabriolet in the lineup.
So it comes down to the new transmission, new displays and COMAND, and updated autonomous driving technology and safety features... and getting a decent trade-in value and tax offset on my MY15.
I've actually been reasonably satisfied with the 7sp MCT but it is clearly a weakness on the S63. I have not driven the 9sp MCT yet, seems to be an improvement based on what I've read. On my MY15, I do miss the Sport+ and Race Start of my previous CLS63S, and wish the suspension had more adaptability.
As far as options, little has changed, basically same things for the same price. There are a few new leather and trim selections and wheel choices, that's about it. I'd opt for pretty much the same as my current car has, except the the magno paint and carbon fiber trim instead of doing a wrap like I did with my current car.
S63 Coupe still remains the ultimate daily driver to me, and remains among the best looking non-exotic cars on the road. Being a Mercedes it's fine to drive to work (as opposed to a Bentley, Aston, etc. that would attract unwanted comments), rear seats are big enough for my teenage daughters unlike most coupes and 2+2s, and it has been perfectly reliable. I will say that Lexus outdid themselves with the LC500... it's a really nice vehicle. If they release a higher performing variant (rumored) it would be very interesting..

Have test-driven '18 S63 (and E63): same crappy, jerky MCT of past 10yrs esp in routine <40MPH urban driving
Have ordered both '19 S65 Coupe and '19 911TurboS Coupe; upon arrival, will do similar comparo of each
Currently have both '17 S65 Coupe and '17 911TurboS Coupe: vastly prefer throttle responsiveness and gearbox smoothness of PDK in Sport/SportPlus vs Sport in '17 65; but, ironically, prefer 4800lb 65 vs 3700lb 991TTS in spirited mtn twisties driving
If '19 65's SportPlus can't compete w/ '19 991TTS throttle/gearbox in routine driving, will move on from AMG after past 10yrs of daily&wkend-driving ~10 new 65s....

I would wait for the MY19
and if you do place an order
do not forget to check the CCB box
I am still at odds with the new grill
Thank-You

As of know that's my plan.
I'm struggling more with the front bumper than the grille, maybe when I see it in person I'll like it better.
