just bought a 2015 with many upgrades from renntech stage 1 turbo , renntech carbon fiber air box , ECU , down pipe with sport cats , renntech claiming 790 hp and 840 LB-FT , would that void the factory warranty ??

Why did you call Mercedes?

Just assume it is voided, do you want the car or not?

Unless your installing dealership wrote you a side warranty, as soon as you go to any dealer and they pop the hood, they will easily see the upgrades. Some don't care but as soon as you have a powertrain warranty issue, be prepared to pay out of pocket.

Yikes... I saved that repair bill in case I ever get tempted to get a tune.

Is Mercedes providing any warranty on the rebuilt engine ? If not I'd have Renntech provide a more conservative tune. Also make sure it is optimized for the fuel you will use. Best dyno numbers are achieved with 93+ octane and if that was programmed, and the car was running on the ubiquitous ANC91 pump gas out in California where the repair was done, well that might have been a contributing factor. Knock sensors only pull timing after knock has occured and it doesn't take much to damage an overstressed engine.

Once the factory warranty is up you - which is probably in the next year or so being a MY15 - you might be able to get coverage restored via a 3rd party extended warranty.

Anyway it's an awesome car and must be a real beast with those power figures! Powertrain in my MY15 is bone stock and I've mostly convinced myself it's fast enough for a 4800 lb luxury barge with air suspension.

Call in a favor at a different dealership and get the VMI on this car if you're still thinking of buying it

I'd say the built engine and trans with upgraded turbos, means the warranty is probably already voided on the powertrain if it was recorded. Seeing that they did the battery under warranty while the car was sitting for almost a year (Oct 16-July '17 on the invoice!), the main warranty should still be standing. the car is at least 2.5-3 years old, so there's not a lot of warranty left. Get an aftermarket warranty and pray for the best, have the car professionally tuned for your local fuel and conditions.

You already bought the car correct? - There is a risk/reward on any mod. Even though the first owner will have sunk $20k+ on the mods he will have taken a bath on the trade-in/sale and hopefully you got it for less than a non-modded coupe. That's the way it typically works.
If the car has been inspected and it is sound, then I don't see any issues. Go for a 3rd party warranty now. I don't think you need to wait until the factory warranty is done which it should be shortly anyway (a year?).

Also legally, the factory warranty stands for anything that is not directly related to the tune anyway so the car is covered for a lot pricey small issues.
