Considering 2019 S65 Coupe (Or Cabriolet)
I like the new Panamerica front grill and most of the improvements in the refreshed 2019 S Coupe/Cabriolets. I Will also consider a new or low mileage 2017 or 2018 S 65 Coupe or Cabriolet. I have a few questions for those of you who have the S65s.
1. Are they reliable?
2. If you had any issues with them, what were they?
3. Overall, are you satisfied with the car?
4. The Cabriolet is interesting, (I probably prefer the coupe) but my biggest concern with the cabriolets is that they seem not to sell. (There are a lot of new and used cabriolet's for sale, yet very few coupes)

Why would you choose S65 over a S63 when the S63 has the new engine and new transmission. The S65 has the same old engine.

my view as well. the specs will show no advantage for the 12. If you did a ecu upgrade on a 5.5 or 4 L would well surpass the 12.
The biggest difference is the MCT in the 63. Even the newest year 12 uses a inferior trans and the MCT is the biggest performance advantage the car can have

Was also considering S65 or S63 and after driving both, I really found the S63 the better car (more involving tranmission, MCT in S63 versus classic torque convertor in S65, more involing sound of the V8 compared to - very smooth - V12, S63 is also lighter so more agile and as a bonus, the S63 has 4WD, so more traction, and is more an all weather car). And this was all pre-facelift. The current facelift model has indeed a new V8 and new 9-speed MCT for the S63, in the S65 nothing changed in the drivetrain.
And overall: yes, I am very satisfied with the car. No issues at all, the convertible is as silent as a coupe, due to the double glass and the layered roof, even at very high speeds.

Funny I just posted about my 2017 S63 Convertible, and wondering if I should keep (buy off lease) or get a 2019. My thoughts on the 63 vs 65 are to go with the 63. Aside from being less expensive, the car is faster...not that speed is everything, but it just seemed odd to pay so much more for the V-12 when is is not as quick. Aside from the engine, I don't see any major differences (except a few wheel options and minor cosmetics).
As far as the 2017 S63 I have, it's fabulous. Really no problems with it other than (a) the odd noise from the tires during cold weather when turning sharply at slow speeds, which has been an issue with ALL my AMG cars, and (b) the cooling seat function doesn't seem to work all that well, at least when the top is down. Maybe that's just a glitch with my particular car and I've never had it checked out. Otherwise the car is very nice, and seems the major differences between that and 2019, is that the 2019 has a much smaller engine, but it's faster; the 2019 has 9 speeds, which I think would be a nice improvement over the older 7 speed set up AMG has used for years (and can be a bit jerky); and as you noted the new grille, which is a love or hate proposition. The interior ambient lighting is also a bit nicer on the 2019.

The only reason to go with the 65 over the 63 is if you have an unrelenting desire to make a $60,000 donation to Daimler. Just get the 63 and swap out the badges for the 65 badges and you will be happy.

Agree 63 is the easy choice unless you are willing to pay a small fortune for having an (outdated) V12 engine under the hood.
In a sports car RWD has its advantages, but in a 5000 lb luxury coupe AWD is an easy choice. I would really like to see AMG give the S63 a few upgrades from the AMG GT 4-Dr specifically the added HP (no doubt a factory tune in a turbo car), four wheel steering, and the Drive Unit steering wheel controls... maybe in 2020 ?

Thanks to everyone on your comments. There are some really good deals on new 2017 S63 and S65 coupes and especially convertables. (Not sure why the Cabriolet is not selling??)
