2015 S63 won't do better then 4.8 0-60
I took delivery of my 2015 S63 a few months ago. I was extremely disappointed with the acceleration of the car from a dead stop so a couple days later I took it to Renntech. I had them do their tune on it and the car was certainly faster but from a dead stop it was still terrible. I took it into the dealer complaining about that and also that it has just shut off on my 3 times while driving. They did two updates, one for the transmission and one for the engine. By doing that they removed the Renntech tune so now it is back to stock with all updates done and it is still terrible off the line. I put my VBOX Sport in it and I am between 4.8 and 5.0 seconds to 60. This is so far off the advertised times that I really think there is something wrong. Also my VBOX is always on the money. My R8 V10 Plus 3.2 seconds, my friends S8 3.8 seconds, so it is accurate and we aren't talking about being off by a tenth here, it's about a second slow to 60 which is huge. Any help or advise from anyone would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

2015 S63 Coupe, 2015 Escalade ESV P, 2014 ML63(sold),2013 G63(sold),2013 SL550(sold),2012 S550(sold)
On MBUSA.com the S63 Sedan is only advertised at 3.9 sec 0-60. This can also be dependent on altitude, break in, gasoline quality etc... Plus it says estimated 0-60. The S63 Coupe says 0-60 3.9 without the estimated qualifier and the coupe is smaller and lighter with the same engine so I doubt they would run 0-60 in the same time. It's a full size sedan, not a sports car like an R8

You should have got the V12, much more suitable for hauling that tank.
Put in on a rolling road and see what it's putting down. Speak to Jerry a at Eurocharged he will sort you out.

That is why Mercedes made the S65 so they could get people to pay and extra $60,000 for more acceleration. A cheap option that you can do to get that acceleration is to send it to a Mercedes tuning company and for about $20,000 or a little more. They will make the car lighter and tune the engine a little and you will get that acceleration that comes with the S65 for a lot cheaper. Hope things work out!

Sure the S63 is pretty heavy but certainly it should be able to hit 60mph in well under 4.8-5sec, particularly with 4MATIC; in fact, I believe 4.8sec is the specified 0-60mph time for the RWD S550. With a Renntech tune I would expect a S63 to hit 60mph in under 4 sec. So it would seen something is wrong if your reported 0-60 times are accurate.
Did you have before and after dyno testing done along by the Renntech installer ? If so what kind of power was the engine putting down ? If not, I suggest getting a dyno test done now since the Renntech tune was wiped and the car is restored to factory spec. If the engine and/or transmission is not functioning properly, that should manifest in a proper dyno test.
AMG engines are generally rated conservatively, and often have higher than expected dyno test results; if your car is putting out less than specified power, you should bring that result to the MB dealership and demand they fix the problem - along with the potentially dangerous shutoff issue that seems to be affecting some of these cars.

Silly statement. A proper S63 4matic will be faster than the S65 RWD any day of the week, especially at 0-60.
There is obviously something wrong with the car. I would dyno it without the Renntech tune. If the specs are not in line with factory figures, go to the dealer and tell them to fix it.

Here, the S63 is only sold in the 4matic version and while the S65 makes more power/torque, it is the slower car of the two...

Loved my old V12TT SL but as of late smaller V8 engines seem to be the focus of tuners and they easily match V12 power (986HP V8 versus the 900HP V12). All of which is over the top, of course...

I will let you know how many I beat at the runway day I am doing next week. In cars that weigh close to 4,500lb torque becomes a factor, that is why I will win.

Plus you make it sound like the S63 has no torque. Engines have been tuned to over 1000 lb/ft torque and that's supposed to be limited. That seems more than the Brabus 900 Rocket torque...
Coming back to the original post. That car obviously has a power output issue.
But buying a S63 vs S65 has nothing to do with speed. It's driving experience (and the size of the buyers wallet )

I have the same experience as the OP with my 2015 S63 4matic...it is well shy of the advertised performance of 3.9 sec 0-60 "est." The addition of the "est" tells me that MB is aware the car does not perform as advertised, the "est" being their thinking it is a license for their claims to be less than accurate. Put another way, MB apparently feels it does not need to be honest in dealing with its customers. To top it off, the transmission is noted by many (including me) to be rough and jerky.

You guy either have a defective car or simply can't drive. There is no way the S63 is a full second off what is stated. Clearly no one knows how to do a proper launch here if you're at 5.0 secs 0-60 in a S63 AMG.

Might be a silly question. But, are you using comfort mode or sport mode? Does it have launch control? Or are you just brake torquing?

OP did you ever get this sorted out ?
Despite having the 7g-MCT, the S63 (sedan and coupe) lack launch control. AMG deliberately left this feature out for some reason, as other models with an identical drivetrain i.e. CLS63 and E63 do have it.
I would think launch control can be emulated to some degree by enabling dyno mode (to turn off ECT), then starting the car, enabling S mode, and brake torquing to maybe 2000 rpm.

My 2016 S63 only does 0-60 in 4.7. Help?
Hello,
I wish I would have read these post prior to purchasing this car. Turned in lease on e63 which was a rocket for this dud. They advertise 3.9 but not even close. Three trips into the shop and all they have done is reprogrammed the transmission. Helped on shifting but no help on takeoff.
They are saying this is acceptable, how can this be.
Looking for advice.
Thank you

Had the S63 rental for 2 separate weeks (and 2 different cars) and each time was very disappointed with performance.
Driving S8 Plus now and I don't feel any difference in power vs my E63, could not be happier.
