Small road trip.

Small road trip.
I had to take my parents on a small road trip from Kansas City to St. Louis due to a relative recently passed. The small trip was around roughly 300miles one way. Started with a full tank going down and coming home. Used the distronic plus practically the entire trip. On the way down had everything set comfy settings. Got around 20mpg. On the way back only difference was I changed one of the settings from comfort to sport (that way we could hear the exhaust a little) got 24mpg. My parents got in the back. Dad was on the right rear. Had his seat set to full relaxation mode, his screen set to nav. Mom was in the left rear seat. Also set her to full recline, however she was watching a movie. Had all the sun screens for the doors and back window opened. Sunroof and panoramic roof screens closed. They both loved the ride. Extremely comfortable vehicle. Speeds ranged from 70mph-85mph, depending on traffic. This vehicle is most incredible. Not a single issue everything was great. When we arrived in St. Louis, had a guy on the highway pull up by us and give us a thumbs up. He was driving a brand new BMW 7 series with the M package. We waved and gave him a thumbs up also. Wish we could go on more trips. What an amazing vehicle.

Were you worried when you ordered the car that the white interior would be extremely hard to stay clean vs. black interior For instance, if you had a pen in your pocket and it burst it would be hard to get off of a white interior vs. not really being able to see it much on a black interior.
Also, you have the rear screens behind the front seat backs. What do they view on there or is it just for show? I always wondered about these. They look really cool but are they blocking the view of the rear passengers through to the front a bit? Also, do they watch DVD's back there on these screens?
Killer color combo. LOVE this car.

Not at all worried on the interior color. I tried to take some pictures of the interior. One shot is what it looks like at about the right rear headrest position looking forward with the front right seat out of the way. I clean our cars at least every Friday-Sunday, weather permitting of course. As for the screens. They are fully functional. Basically whatever you can do on the front screen, you can do on the rear screens. Including play movies. This particular car has the split view option. That's where the front right passenger can be watching a movie while the driver drives. Its a very cool option. We have three headphones and four remotes. All Mercedes factory parts. If I take my parents on a trip, such as the one we took to St. Louis. My mom was watching a movie, while my dad had the Navigation up and running on his screen. I hope this helps. It is an amazing machine.

Totally blown away, not sure what else to say. Thx for sending these pics and that info. Watching a move while driving? I have never known anyone to do this - none of my friends or family. Maybe in a mini-van, but I've never actually seen it happen, let alone, in a luxury car like this. Spectacular, man!

Thank you Stever500. You can look it up on you tube or something. Its call split view. I am pretty sure Mercedes is the only one to have such a feature/option. I had to have it activated at our local Mercedes dealer. It was funny. When I took the car in to have the feature activated, the service writer was kind of cocky. He said, you probably don't even have that option. I told him very nicely, trust me, this car has every option, except the refrigerator and the executive seating package (needed a five seater). Well he scanned the VIN and printed out the build sheet and came back. It was 2-3 pages long. He said nicely, WOW, well you do have it. He took the car into the back and they activated it under warranty.

Bloody awesome story! You must be over the moon about this car. I hope to get a car with some of most of those options when I next start looking in about 3-4 years when this warranty is close to expiring. I figure I'll drive it right up until it expires and I'd prefer not to own it out of warranty.
This forum rocks! There would be no way to communicate with other S63 or S65 owners for the newer model 2016-2017's without this forum. YAY for technology.

My dad bought the max amount Mercedes maintenance program and whatever the best extended warranty Mercedes offered. This was due to all the technology and gadgets this car has. SO far the vehicle has been excellent. Yes we love the car. Every time we are out in it, its like you are a rock star or movie star. People just want to take pictures and look, ask questions. It is so much fun taking it to cars and coffee. I love seeing peoples reactions and comments. Especially the ladies.

Socalsteve. Yes Cali has some nice and expensive cars. We have the same here, just not in abundance. We have Lambo's, Ferrari's, Porsche's, Bentley's, Roll's, Maserati's, etc.... There's a doctor down the street from us, and I don't think he owns anything under $250,000.00 for cars and he has five cars. Its the color combination of my mom's car that I think catches there eye. At three different Mercedes dealers, it seemed all they had were black AMG's. Its almost as if they did not know you could get the car in white. I still have not seen a white AMG S63 where I live, all black ones. Have an awesome weekend.

So, I test drove it. Nice car. But the traffic in Beverly Hills didn't allow me to open it up at all. They wanted about $135,000 for it. Bought my CPO 2015 S Class for 1/2 that with 21k miles. Not even broken in.

True story: before I bought my S Class, I looked at the Maserati Levante. I went to Beverly Hills McLaren-Maserati. As I was leaving, I saw a 2016 S63 in white at the dealership. No one even paid attention to it. Seriously, among the 1/4 to 1/2 million dollar McLarens, Astons, Ferraris and Lambo's, the white S 63 was in the way. Must have been a trade in for ???

Curious at to why you say this...please give details. Not doubting you for a moment, just curious as to what happened.
Thanks!!!
PS: I never got far enough with them ( as I decided to buy my S550 from a MBZ dealer ) to haggle or anything. Salesman I dealt with was pleasant. Didn't know much about technology and how they relate to cars, but he was older...

Barry, does your p/S rear seat recline more than the d/s rear? I have the rear seat package (325), and I thought the p/s rear would've reclined more than the other side, esp when the chauffeur mode engaged and the foot rest out. Wondering if maybe I'm doing something wrong, or they're supposed to both be the same?

I would say it is the same. We did not get the executive rear seat package or the executive rear seat package plus. The rear seats do adjust, heat and cool, recline somewhat, and have rear airbag seat belts. They just don't recline as much as the executive seating packages. We needed a five seater. With the car running, I usually hold the recline type button on the right rear door. That will move the right front seat as far out of the way as possible. I believe it will also recline the right rear seat. I usually get the vehicle all set up for my parents, if we take a road trip. I hope this helps. Any other questions just ask, I will do what I can.

Yeah, that's exactly how mine is. I guess I just presumed the right rear would recline more with that special reclining button it has that the other side doesn't. Thanks a lot for the reply.
