2017 S63
2017 S63 vs 560 Fully loaded

After 5 weeks they decided to replace the wet clutch for a new one. I still don't get used to the slow response of the car in slow situations, traffic, parking lots, school zones etc.
The RPM hits 1,800 and only then the car starts to slowly de engage the clutch to get in to first gear: it feels like if a teenager was learning to drive shift-stick.
Does any one has experienced the same feeling?
Is this normal in all AMG Models?
Wouldn't you be better off sacrificing 1.2 seconds and having a 560 AMG package fully loaded with instant response?

Fairly well-known for past 10yrs that MCT is a POS gearbox w/numerous lemoned 63s b/c of its unacceptable performance/failures
AMG claims new MCT of '18 S63 is better; this wk I'll test-drive one to confirm
My suspicion is, if AMG couldn't solve MCT despite 10yrs of failed attempts, unlikely the '18 will be much better
Also, not clear why one wants an inept, jerky gearbox w/more&more gears to solve when have 600+lb-ft; such crappy boxes may make more sense vs cars w/no tq

<35MPH routine driving (in Sport mode) is a problem in many alleged perf cars, even those w/autobox, like '17 S65: a combination of bad throttle software & gearbox hardware/software I'd guess produces the intermittent hesitation in routine accel and jerkiness in decel (light years better than MCT but the throttle&7-sp autobox of 65 has much room for improvement)
Perhaps '19 S65 w/its new SportPlus mode vs throttle/gearbox will solve this; won't know until it arrives next yr
Currently, only car I know of w/sharp throttle response and smooth gearbox in Sport mode in routine urban driving is '18 911TurboS, ironically w/PDK and vs 550lb-ft: so, to-date, P has solved throttle/gearbox vs daily urban use better than has AMG (or anyone else)

2017 S63
Update: This is a ****ing lemon car! Now My S63 suspension started to crack on the long tight turns (parking) I really hate this car. I went down to Park Place dealership and to return it and offered me to put me in a 2018 S560, they valuate the S63 for trade in as if I was a walking customer! They offered me 105,000 ! The original price was 170,000 (4 months ago) they wanted to hit me with 65,000 dls! They blamed Mercedes for the S63 problems and they said they repair the car at zero cost and it was not their fault.
One month ago I called the sales rep and told him to help me out, I want to place an offer on a 2018 Porsche GT2, I am a good customer, just help me out getting out of this car. He forgot to call me back! That was a $300K plus deal!

So I took the Car to Mercedes Benz Plano Tx and got a better deal and trade in for a 2018 S560 Maybach. I got a hit but I got out of a very bad car. I considered calling my lawyers but I don't have the time or energy.

STAY AWAY from S AMG Wet clutch system and specially stay away from "PARK PLACE group" dealerships (Mercedes Porsche Bentley etc...) They've grown so big they won't mind loosing a customer.

That sucks overall! Quick question - all this stuff confuses me. If I have a 2012 S63 which I love, but will want to trade out of in 3 years when my extended warranty is over with, which years S63's should I stay away from and which are the good years? My car has been VERY RELIABLE and hasn't caused me many problems yet. 40k miles so far, got it with about 16k miles.

I was considering getting a 2018 BMW Alpina B7 instead for my next car or maybe, a 2018 S63 (it would have to be 3 years old at least for me to afford it, so I'd be getting it in 2020 or 2021).

Thoughts?

Any car like a S63 or S65 will lose 30% of value IMMEDIATELY. I will never buy an AMG again. The loaded S560 is the best deal. Even then, you'll lose 20% as you wave the salesman goodbye. Then after only 3 years, you'll get less than $50,000 on trade. It's really pathetic.

I would only want an AMG car but my question has nothing to do with value, it has to do with reliability. Is there a problem specifically with they 2015-17 MB S63s in general, like they all could be a lemon due to some manufacturing or part problem or was it probably just your car? To be clear, I'm sure the S560 and S550's and other cars are nice I'm sure, but I would ONLY get an AMG car for personal reasons.
