MY17 S63AMG - MBUSA Buyback. MY16 SL63 - Sold MY19 W213 E63s. 2020 W213 E63s Wagon
When time comes, I plan on getting my tune from EC. With that said, there is no guarantee Mercedes will honor warranty work if your car is tuned. There are allot of ways Mercedes can find out if your car is tune. One being Mercedes can see from your ECU log, the amount of boost ( turbo ) at any given time and if your ECU tuned, that factory boost will be higher. Second way for Mercedes to tell is by looking at your axe rod because if your tune, the axe rod will be bend.
As for ReNNtech, if your Mercedes support/sell the ReNNtech tune, it will be up to that dealer to fix the problem related to the tune.
If a Mercedes is flagged or put on status 8, it doesn’t mean all warranty claim will be denied, it means the dealer will need to have Mercedes approval before any warranty work can be performed free of charge.

Why do you guys say this tune is the best one? I’m pretty ignorant when it comes to this but I did read the stats and it doesn’t provide anywhere near the gains other tunes do. Is it easier to install? Is it better on the car? What are the advantages and pros that cause you to say it’s the best? Thanks in advance.

Caseyp, please get the tune! I have a 2015 S65 stock. I also had a 2006 S65 with a Eurocharged tune. The 2006 was noticeably faster with the tune. The 2015 stock has a much better factory tune plus a 7 speed, It performs essentially equal to the tuned 2006. So I am very curious to hear your opinion before and after a tune on your 2015 S65. I also have a new SL65, it is way faster than the S65 for three reasons. It is 600 pounds lighter, has a limited slip differential and a 10% shorter final drive ratio.
Both of these cars have Conti 5P's. They seem to have good traction at launch. I use 36psi cold in the rears. For the driving you are doing swapping in a Quaife LSD might be the best improvement. The LSD in the SL65 makes a big difference in low speed traction and in minimizing traction control engagement.
Earlier this year I was able to do 5 laps of Laguna Seca in a new SL63 (and a lot of other new AMG's.) It was a great car but convinced me I made the right choice for myself in getting the SL65.

Hi Quadrobenz,
just 1 Question, why for you the new SL65 is better than the new SL63. I am also interested in the R231 SL65 AMG.
Kind regards

I really enjoy driving the AMG V12 Biturbo’s. The SL63 still uses the 5.5L V8 with the 7sp transmission. Same driveline we had in our 2014 E63S. We really hated the overal feel and jerkiness of the drivetrain in that car, even after multiple software updates. So I did not want another one. The SL63 I drove at Laguna Seneca worked well on the track but was still not there on the street smoothness. The V12 has a torque converter 7sp, much more pleasant in everyday driving. Nothing else makes the bottom end torque of the V12 nor has the smoothness. After the tune the V12 makes 800ft-lb torque at 2k rpm, about the flash stall speed of the torque converter. Even stock it makes the 738ft-lb there. My wife, whose daily driver is a new E63S with the 9sp comments on how much more responsive and smooth the V12 is in everyday driving. I told her to put hers in S+ but then she says it is much to jerky and her passengers complain.
One last not important item, I never knew I needed an all leather headliner until I had one!

Good read as looking for tune now.
I have had a lot of tuner cars from Dinan, Renntech, Brabus, etc. My take is stop looking at HP and TQ numbers. First off any dyno operator can fudge numbers.
There are plenty of tuners and tuning Co's that can get you that extra HP but do they have the experience and know how and most all know when to back it dow and say NO. I have used Renntech and sometimes it feels ok when others it has been dramatic. Most would look at that and say I left power on the table but to me I know they kept the engine within a safe range. They have been in the game a long time and also build engines not just tunes. Dealer installs and adds additional comfort if an issue arises as if they instal it its on them. If for whatever reason it gets denied I can ship it to FL and have Renntech cut me a deal on the rebuild. You can advertise you warranty all you want but post how many engines you actually backed that up with. Internet talk means nothing brick and mortar store with experience is what I look for.
I am now in CA and have contacted Weistec as I think they know the crappy gas better but I'll be 100% honest i don't get that secure feeling as I do with Renntech. Look at their website it says legal and then right under it says it isn't?
Very few people are keeping their foot into it above 150 and most are judging by that kick down highway hit and bragging about dyno numbers. If your constantly dragging your 2018 s65 your a heavy hitter and aren't worried
about warranties anyway.
