I would say 2014-2017 given your S63 is a 2015 model year. I would not touch out of those years.

For example, the W212 E63 with the M157 started from 2012 all the way through 2017 using the M157 ECU, but the output varied through options like the 2012-2013 E63 has the standard output and one with the P30 or other wise known as performance package that bumps up the HP/TQ/Boost and the 2014-2017 came with the E63 and E63s again different output. Mercedes set the output parameters differently throughout the model years for our S63 as you see from 2012 to 2017 S63. Hope this helps.

Those aren't the same part numbers. One ends in "12 00" and the other ends in "13 00". Does that matter??

Yes it does. You don’t want to pick one up that came from a W222 S class vs S63. My came from a S63.

I asked my tuner if that ecu will work. And he checked in his system and varified that it’ll work. He said something like,as long as it’s (Med 17.7.3) it’s good?

I should be getting the ecu’s shipped out to him soon for the tune. I’ll know for sure once he receive both the ecu’s if it’s compatible. Will update once I get back the ecu.

That would be awesome if your tuner can get it to work and accomplish that pop ( exhaust note ) your looking for my friend. May I ask what tuner your going with?

Do that TCU reset I posted, you’ll love it.

I found him reading the forum link you sent me. He’s from NY. And yes, I’m aware of the TCU reset. I do it here and there when I feel the car isn’t responsive. Btw, you don’t need to remove the push start button. Just press it 2x instead. And that’s just like turning the key to the 2nd position as you have mentioned. I included his profile link below via Instagram:

So I just received my ecu back after a few days from my tuner. And he was able to get that pop/crackle I was looking for. From my understanding. That popping/ crackling sound that occurs from the exhaust is caused by “uncontrolled exhaust combustion”. You do NOT need to buy MB performance exhaust to achieve that sound from the exhaust. This guy, I tell you is wonderful. And knows his stuff! I was able to take a short video clip driving. And was able to get a sound clip of the crackle/pop for you guys to hear. It’s a lot louder in person than what you hear in the video. Enjoy!

S63
In sport mode the Renntech exhaust does quite a bit of snapping and popping on a 14' S63. The downshifts coming to a stop are also pretty cool sounding. Not the ECU tuning route, but I am pretty happy. When in comfort mode the car is quiet enough for my taste, but it's loud (in a good way) when in sport.

Any chance you can post a sound clip of your exhaust set up?

Nice my friend. Does it clackle and pop on lower speed down shifts as well? Do you plan on dynoing it or did the turner tell you how much HP/TQ you’ve gained as a result of the ECU tune? Enjoy.

Yes. It pops at down shifts. But only if I’m going fast. Doesn’t pop/crackle if I’m doing city driving. The tuner told me I should be expecting roughly about 18 - 20% increase in overall power? I will know exactly the power #’s when ever I get a chance to dyno the car.

hey bud your car sounds amazing. How reliable is it. How is your car doing now since it’s been a couple of years you have the burble tune on it.

Car runs perfectly fine as of today. So far so good! If you or anyone tune their car I suggest at lest do a resonator delete. it sounds perfect,IMO. In comfort mode it sounds like in Sports mode. And sports mode now sounds like sports+ found in the face lift models.

Thanks for your note. My 2017 remains stock. . .haven’t gotten around to tuning from Weistec. You might call them and learn what they have. Sorry I can’t provide more information.

Hey man thanks for the response. So what do you have done to your car tune and burble wise and I assume you said it was under cpo so you got another ecu and kept the stock ecu aside I case you have to go to the dealership. I wanted to get your same exact setup and wanted to see how much it costed and is it reliable. I live in jersey so going to to Brooklyn Euro wouldn’t be a problem. Also does your car launch better now.

I did thought about getting another ecu. But changed my mind last min. Because I was afraid the dealer would find out about my tune. But after talking to the guy that tuned my car. He said the dealer would have to look into the ecu to find out what was done to it. I’ve taken my car to the dealer numerous times. And no problems. I have the stage 2 tune with burble, and deleted the resonators. I also recently installed the electronic exhaust valve module. Which fully open up the exhaust flaps for a bit more sound. It’s hard to capture the exact exhaust note sound. So posting a video clip is useless for you to hear. Hope that answered your questions.

Hi phatisfy. I have been reading about the work you had done on your car. I am sending you an email message. I was hoping you could point me in the right direction to do similar work. Thank you
