How are you guys launching your S63
As the title states, how are you guys launching your S63 ( preface )? Just stab the gas since there isn’t RS or can’t turn traction control off, just sport or sport +.

It doesn't really matter how you do it, it's painfully slow. Is the most disappointing thing about the car for me. I've tried t/c off, sport mode, comfort mode, dyno mode, power braking, not power braking, etc.....nothing helps.

I recall reading/seeing somewhere that "Manual/Custom" setting launched best, using paddle shifter to upshift near redline...
I don't know if they "torque braked" or not.
Some of the car magazines reveal what worked best for their launches for other cars, but I never found that kind of info on W222 S63s...
Internet search found 0-60 times as low as ~3.5-3.9 secs, not bad for a vehicle that heavy!

Can’t believe this +$170k super sedan doesn’t have the RS like my E63 did. I know it’s allot bigger and heavier car vs the E63, but we should be denied the occasional need to spin the wheels off the line.
How is is this guy doing it, maybe he is tuned:
A interesting article:

So no way the turn the tracking control off to get some wheel spin?

That's obviously a RWD euro car. And yes, if you put the car in dyno mode it turns off EVERYTHING- that's exactly what he did. That's also how I used to drag my S65's (220-221) at the strip- it was the only way I could do a proper burnout with the ET streets on back.
No need to put it in dyno mode in the 63 with the 4matic- you'd never be able to do anything with tire spin. You'd likely break something, LOL.

I hear ya. On my old 2016 E63s with RS or just brake torque it sport+ will spin the tires happily and with the tune and downpipes it’ll Spin the tires on and on.
Wonder if if you guys with a tune on the S63 can get wheel spin off the line?
Thanks.

It does spin a lil. Before tracking control kicks in.

So there is absolutely no way to brake torque it? If there is, around what RPM would it launch at? I am coming from a 750+ hp tuned Audi S8 which unfortunately got totaled, and am looking to get into an S63. Although these giant luxury cars aren’t meant for racing I myself do dabble in it (dig, roll, etc). I would like to know if there is any way to get the car to launch fairly well. My S8 ran 10.45 @135mph and launched like a bat out of hell. But that is because of the torque converter which the S63 lacks, although this same transmission is used across many other AMG models.

The car in the video is a W221, they were RWD. Judging by the tail lights it has the 5.5L biturbo, not the earlier 6.2L NA. The car review in the included link is for the Euro release of the W222. Apparently the UK version was RWD unlike the rest of the world which is AWD.
I had the opportunity to do 10 RS launches and runs to 70mph in an E63S at the AMG Driving Academy last fall. No matter what you do, the car launches soft. Once moving the 4L biturbo/9sp in the 4300lb car really pulls hard. The 2018 with the 4L/9sp is much faster than our 2014 5.5l/7sp was. If anyone wants a fast S63 with a lot of tune margin left start with the newer 4L version. I am assuming we are not discussing W221's since this is the W222 forum.

Consider getting a GIANT rubber band and wrap it between two secure bollards and slingshot your car that way? Just an idea I only wonder where one would find a rubber band that big.
