2016 Mercedes S63 4matic sedan
Baseline dyno. 2016 S63 4matic.

This is a 2016 Mercedes S63 AMG 4matic with approximately 22,000miles. Purchased new and I am the original owner. All service performed at a Mercedes dealership. All tires inflated to 35psi, vehicle set to dyno mode, gas tank full of 93 octane, four zone climate control was on and set to 75 degrees, vehicle completely stock. All three pulls were done in (M) manual mode and in 4th gear. I wanted it done in 5th gear, as that is the 1/1 gear. However the owner was telling me that they are limited to a certain MPH, so all pulls were done in 4th instead of 5th. I believe he said that the numbers could have been a little higher in 5th. He also stated that this was the second highest stock all wheel drive car on his dyno. They were in shock and very impressed. They never see this type of car. They had fun with me showing them the tech and luxury stuff. They took photos and some video (I think for there web site). I did take some video, which I will try and get posted. However having issues getting it to download and play on my computer. All pictures were taken by a Panasonic camera that has the capability to video. Something kind of interesting. HP seemed to go up as we did the three pulls. Also the second dyno he accidently ran in sport (S) mode, so the car shifted. Runs one and three were done in manual (M) mode.

Question, the numbers are AWHP or at the crank? Is this on dyno jet or mustang? Thanks.

PS. Are you planing a before and after dyno or just want to see what your S63 puts out?

Yes, this is an all wheel drive dyno. Here is more information about the dyno, off of the shops website. AWD eddy brake dyno. Our Loaded Dyno can be ran in 2wd or AWD. -One of the only Loaded dyno's in the area!!This Dyno is a Land & Sea Dynomite Brand Eddy Current Loaded Dyno. The dyno has a dynamic load cell and can properly simulate road and race track conditions for each vehicle. The dyno will load the rollers to the weight and aerodynamics of vehicle giving a true road simulation. If we eliminate knock retard on the dyno, you should not experience it on the road or track. There are many many different types of chassis dynos. I have used a dyno jet before, however I am not familiar with this brand. They did not enter the weight of my vehicle. Also they are limited by a certain mph top speed. So they ran the pulls in 4th gear not 5th. Of all the dyno shops I have been to, they have always ran my vehicles in the gear with 1/1 ratio. On a 2014-2017, the 1/1 gear is 5th. I am just trying to get a rough baseline to compare to when I get some mods done. We were not sure if the vehicle would like it, however we had no issues other than the dyno operator accidently moved the C/S/M button to S. He wanted to manually shift the car and hold gears. So I moved it back to M. I finally got the three videos downloaded onto my computer. However this website does not like the format that the video is in. You really can not hear the car over the dyno rollers. They were so noisy. So it may be pointless to try and get them up on the forum. It was so fun and now I have a baseline. I have a friend that had a speed shop with a dyno jet. He said that the numbers I got, are very strong for that type of dyno. Unless someone else dynos there vehicle on the same company's dyno and model, the numbers wont match up with the many other dyno company's out there. This is the only one I have to choose from in my city. I had to drive a half hour away to get to it. I will be back after the mods. At some point.

Just upload your video to YouTube. And then share your video link here. Pretty straight forward?

I will see what I can do for the videos. I cant promise anything though. I really wish the dyno was quieter, so you could actually hear the car. This was the noisiest dyno I had ever been on and used. Also we had trains going through town and they were honking their horns.

I’m just wondering what the numbers translate to whp or at the crank? I’ve heard MBusa undervalue it’s AMG cars for HP and Tq.

Every dyno is completely different. The numbers that you see on the chart, are the readings for horsepower and torque, at the wheels. Its just that not every dyno is going to give you the exact same numbers. There are lots of factors for that and how they are calculating there numbers. If I had more all wheel drive dynos to choose from, I would try them. However, this is the only all wheel drive dyno in my area. I had one other shop to choose from, however they wanted to take the front driveshaft off. I said absolutely not, so that left me with only one shop to go to. We have more shops with two wheel drive dynos, just not very many all wheel drive dynos to choose from. My friend that use to own a speed shop with a two wheel drive dyno, said for the type of dyno I was on, those numbers are extremely strong and he was very impressed. That made me feel good. If you were to compare my numbers to any other S63 all wheel drive numbers. My numbers are way low compared to other types of dynos out there. That is really all the information I have. I even tried to look for a formula to convert my numbers into per say dyno jet type of figures. I could not find any. I am just trying to get a baseline figure so I have something to compare it to, when I start adding mods. That way I can look at the graph and the numbers. The dyno I was on, is a true all wheel drive dyno. Another words, the front rollers are not connected to the rear rollers. I believe each wheel had an independent roller that was tied into the computer and then gave a reading. The dyno I used, the owner said he could tell that most of the power was going to the rear wheels compared to the front. He had some type of needle meter that was showing him where the power was going. I had read that the AMG S63 is kind of a 30% front and 70% rear on the power delivery. Another words, that is the most power it can send to the front. I hope this helps.
