2017 GLE 350
The unsafe plastic fuel tank in 2017 GLE-350 SUV, ruptured by Road debris!
Alert to MB SUV drivers!!!
Mercedes Benz SUV is having plastic fuel tank installed underneath with no protective shield / plate to the tank.
Last month, my 2017 GLE 350 SUV was ruptured by road debris due to lack of shield protection to the tank on the highway, the gas was leaking around 10 miles until a driver stopped us and called 911 on highway, we were in the danger of fire during that time!
I talked to MBUSA, requested MBUSA to take care of this unsafe design flaw but they just ignored my voice, declined my claim. There is NO trust and confidence to MBUSA.
I checked other brand SUVs, they all have the protective shields / plates to the tanks, they are Lexus Rx 350, BMW X3 and X5, Cadillac SRX, Toyota Highland, Ford Escape, Subaru outback etc....
I have reported to NHTSA and will take legal action against MB dealer and MBUSA.
I'm not sure if any of you met similar issue before. My case proved Mercedes Benz is doing wrong thing by leaving the danger to consumer.

Had same problem
is sad to say I had the same freaking problem with my ml63 I was driving down the highway and suddenly my gas indicator started to go down to fast . I thought in my mind that I was going to fast because mpg consumption in a ml63 is high , but I didn’t realize until I went to refill my tank and started to drop gasoline al over . something it my left side gas tank and made a 1/2 inch hole in it , I didn’t loose all the gasoline because the gastank is divided in two sides if I hitter the roght side then it would run out of gas
lucky nothing mayor happend but Mercedes should made a recall on this and for a 120k car the less that can have is a plastic cover for security just like other brands ,

I had the same issue on my GLE 63S Coupe. Hit some metal debris and it flew up and sliced my tank. There is no guard I can find to protect it. The steel undercarriage guard I found only covers the front part.
