I have the same problem, is your trip computer working? If not, then that's your problem. You'll need to get a new trip computer because it's related to that circuit.

From what I can see, the ML500 don't have the 2 extra fan in front of the radiator like the ML320 have. The mechanic told me this is one of the downsides of ML500.

I have the same problem on my 2002 ML500. Flush the radiator and still have the same problem. Normally, it only happens when driving locally or stop and go traffic, freeway is normal.
