It's Built, It's On The Way - Is Progress Tracking Possible?
The wait is almost over. My car was built on Feb 22, 2005 and the transportation phase has begun. Soon, I will be

I would appreciate it very much if anyone could provide info about how to track the shipment? My salesman said that the info was not generally available to the public, but I think I remember a post with instructions for finding out what ship, progress, etc. Thanks in advance if anyone can help.

I am not sure how the dealer visibility figures into the shipping company indicating the vehicle is loaded on one of their vessels. It is a bit confusing to me.
BTW - Any recommendations on breaking it in? I do plan to keep this car a long time if it does not develope a lot of maintenance issues. Thanks.
Ah, the torture.
Sounds good to me. When was your car built? My build date is supposed to have been on Feb 22. I suppose it is going to get here in a month or so from that date, whether the shipping web site tells me anything or not. I suppose I am just a little bit over anxious. Good luck with yours. I am sure you will enjoy driving it.

I have an explanation of why I was unable to track my car yesterday. My broker called today to tell me that my car was not on the ship at the time, but instead CLEARING CUSTOMS. The latest information is that it has been turned over to the VPC here in Los Angeles for a thorough inspection before being turned over to the dealer.
My broker estimates that the car will arrive at the dealer in 10 days and then gives a one day turnaround for the dealer to detail and prep the car for me. So, I'm looking to take delivery around March 10 or 11.
The irony is that I will be flying to South Florida on business on the 10th and returning late on the 11th. So, if the car is ready on either of those days, I'll have to wait until the following week.

1. Go to the Wallenius Wilhelmsen site (In December it didnt’ work with Mozilla so use IE): http://schedule.2wglobal.com/AppTracking/cargoTrack.do I forgot where to enter the VIN under the “TRACK BY” menu. If it is on a ship either the RoRo cargo (Roll on Roll off) might work or try the bill of lading number and the ship will be listed. After leaving the port, the booking number will show the VINs of all the other Benzs on the ship.
2. Use the Voyage ID or Vessel Name here: http://schedule.2wglobal.com/AppSche...countryList.do to display the sailing schedule for your vessel.
3. Go this US Coast Guard site: http://cgmix.uscg.mil/psix/PSIX2/VesselSearch.asp to find your Mercedes-carrying ship's "call sign". I found the Freedom as a freight ship.
4. Then, with the call sign in hand, visit the Ocean Weather site: http://www.sailwx.info/shiptrack/index.html#search to find the current location at sea.
It you want to try it, the Freedom is crossing this week and the call sign is WDB5483.

Congrats on your ride. So, you should have it soon, if not already. Hope mine caught a boat that quickly. Were you able to obtain confirmation from the WW shipping web site by entering your VIN? Thanks.
