ML63 owners check this out!

OK so I was brawsing other forum and one E63 owner posted this intresting clip!

http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v5...t=Video000.flv

And here what he says about this feature!

Ofcourse , this is something I found out like 3 weeks after I had the car ... It's in the menu of the inst cluster , you flip through the menus , and there goes the engine and gearing display , you keep it there , you switch to manual mode , and there you go , it tells you when to upshift , magazines obviously dont know about this feature yet , all 63s have it even the ML 63 ... It's awesome ...

So you might wanna try and find it and enjoy manual driving!!!

Not getting any responses in another thread on this topic so a re-post is in order:

Merry Xmas

So has anyone tried implementing the dyno mode code?

Is it the same as https://mbworld.org/forums/sho...34#post1812034

I've tried this several times and can't get any upshift indications... Are you sure ML's have this feature?

Anyone else get their ML to do this?

Yes, mine does. You just need to select the display that shows current gear + oil temperature at the top, then make sure you have selected 'M' for manual gears. Then when you need the red-line the upper display will glow bright red and the words 'UP' will be displayed next to the gear indicator.

Doc, do you need to redline the tach? I've tried on several different occasions exactly as mentioned and nothing. But I admittedly did not redline the tach.

Yes, you do need to redline it. Give it a try and see.

If you have to redline it then it's not much use. When my CLS63 redlines it has a hard time shifting out. I need to shift up well before the redline to get a good shift. In fact my shifting in manual is pretty slow in general, I might have to get it checked out.
None the less, great find.

Dyno mode is very easy and very useful. You should try it. But be extra careful, the car stops driving for you.

I agree, Not much use as it takes a tenth or even a half a sec. to shift on its own, But as an idiot light or for the hearing impaired it is novel.

I have made a short video showing what it looks like on the ML63. Apologies for the poor images, it's rather hard to accelerate along a bumpy road AND hold a camera phone at the same time..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ynl4W5kBOdU

p.s. as a sidenote, in the second video I accelerate from 40mph to just over 95mph in 6 seconds, which is none too shabby really.
