Secondary cats won't throw a code. Primary cats will throw a code.

From what I've seen on the all the W205 cars we've had in here there is only one set of cats, those being the primaries. They are quite tucked in there next to the bellhousing of the trans so I personally wouldn't bother cutting them out unless you removed them (and if you're going that far you might as well just put catless downpipes in their place). Removing these will cause a check engine light.

The C63S has primary and secondary cats. The Secondaries are found at the end of the downpipe. Removing the secondary cats doesn't throw a check engine light. (Had mine removed, and I have no check engine light.)

Here's a picture of the OEM downpipes with cats, vs Weistec http://weistec.com/all/c/c-63/2015-w...grade-c63.html

Weird that you didn't notice much of a noise increase. Could be that the cars are well insulated, and I only noticed the sound increase cause I always drive with the rear seats down, and the windows/panoramic sunroof open (If the weather here allows it).

I think you are right!!! These cars keep away the noise very well.

I need to get video now as I recorded some video before I did the cats in order to compare.

Totally stand corrected.... Was looking through past pics of our downpipes and mid sections that day and lost perspective somehow. My fault on that!

Longbow: Im in the same boat. I would love new pipes but, dropping the transmission is problem one. Some kits allow you to cut the factory downpipes and install theirs, but then you can never go back to factory and the biggest issue for me is the fact that you will have a check engine light flashing on your dash.

It isn't worth it for me, but to those who did it there are gains to be had.

Check Engine can be corrected with a Tune. Pretty sure the piggy-backs won't solve for this but worth a quick chat with Rebellion before you pull the trigger.

Yes, you can reflash the ECU with a tune but, now you need to do a flash in conjunction with the pipes. In addition and something I forgot to mention, you will not pass emissions tests in the US once you remove both cats in the pipes.

There is no check engine light with a piggyback as all they are doing is manipulating the air, fuel and boost percentages. The sensors aren't removed and neither are the cats.

Most people do a fresh tune with downpipe install, to take full advantage of the mod.

Vehicles newer than 7 years old are emission exempt up here.

if you install spacers you shouldnt have a check engine light. For certain states in the US they dont even do a sniffer test but rather just an OBD2 hook up.

I don't have emissions here in FL but if I tell my wife that I will drop 10K on a brand new 92k car and that in doing so it will require removal of the Transmission and possibly losing the warranty. I will most certainly be sleeping in the couch for the next two year.
The w205 is not like w204 where you can do the primary and secondary cats and tune in a day and re-flash back to stock if you need it.

You don't have to drop the motor and trans to get them out. You can cut the pipes in half to pull them out.

The bigger BS is charging $2799 for $100 worth of bent exhaust pipe. If you show that to any reputable exhaust shop they will laugh and bend you a set for $500 with a smile on their face.

But, but, R&D costs money yo! Lol.

+100000. I know our cars are benz' and amgs I'm surprised no one else is bringing the fact up that they are charging $2800 for freaking catless downpipes. What is this world coming to...

No reputable shop here in Miami will do downpipes for $500.00.
Even worst if they see you driving this car. Sounds bad but that how it is here. Maybe in other places but not in South FL.
If you know of a place down here, Im all ears.
