Custom Exterior & Interior Colors--Any Info?
There have been comments on this forum about MB actually doing special order paint & interiors, over and beyond typical Designo options. I think we have all heard of the special cars delivered to royal customers in the Mideast, etc. Then there is Lovin's PA-4 car with the special interior.
I would like to find out specifics as to what some of these things cost and just HOW custom they wil get, without going over the "money is no object" cliff. For example will they paint a new S Class (thinking cabriolet) pretty much any color MB has offered, throughout their entire line, over the past 20 years? Will they do a FULL Palomino or other color interior, to include the dash, door panels and carpets? If anyone has any real knowledge in this area, or can point me in the right direction, I would very much appreciate hearing about it. Thanks very much.

Just my 2 cents, but if you're considering doing the upper dash in Palomino or some other light color...there's a reason that the upper dash in most cars is dark...the windshield will pick up reflections of the dash, and the lighter the color, the more visible and imo distracting this will be. For instance, when I have a white parking slip up on the dash, it is can create a very visible reflection in the windshield, depending on how sunny it is.

I'm certainly aware of that, but for years, MB and other makers did the dash in lighter colors. My '79 450SL came with a Bamboo interior (a tad darker than Palomino) and the dash matched the seats. Indeed, Porsche will still do the dash in pretty much any color the customer wants. If I am not mistaken, Bentley still does light colored dash pads as well.
I bought a new 1998 E320 4matic in 1998 in Desert Silver Exterior color with Parchment interior (light tan). The upper dash and the back deck lid in the interior were the light tan color. I really liked that the upper dash was a light color.

I've always loved the FULL color interiors. Here are two, fairly current Porsche interiors. I just love the all beige interior, where I find the one with the black dash to be decidedly ugly.
