No unfortunately. I heard it will have all 2017 E Class SemiAD & other tech plus interior upgrades.
MB has been unusually quiet about the US release date for the freshened S.

Not correct. The refresh is not coming until 2018 model year.
I'm afraid the refreshed S Class w/ all the 2017 E Class advanced tech won't be market available in the US until 4th QTR 2017. If anyone has solid info that they will be available in 2016, please advise.

It will come out in the summer of 2017 as a 2018 MY. It will not be the 4th QTR.
Still no news on the actual changes cosmetically? Usually by now there would be SOME sort of info?
There is actually a pretty comprehensive list that has been posted by Wolfman that is very accurate.
Introduction is in April/May 2017 with deliveries in August as MY18 in the US.
Many are technical updates but there will be the usual cosmetic ones as well.
The biggest changes are happening on the engine side of things…
Interior:
New LED display unit and steering wheel with touch pads (a la W213)
Seats will also feature massage functions in the seat base
64 color Ambient lighting
Electronics:
Updated comand & telematic software
Remote Park Pilot via Smart phone
Improved Distronic Plus with lane change assistant, Drive Pilot. The car will stay in center of the lane and does the stuff listed for the W213
48Volt for onboard electronics
Exterior:
New 84 segment multi-beam LED headlight with new LED DLRL design (triple eyebrow)
The usual front/rear end updates (front/rear bumpers, exhaust, tail lights)
Engines:
S550: The M278 gets kicked out and gets the 4 liter V8 M176 engine
S63 gets the M177 4 liter Turbo V8 engine
V12 engine with more power and 4matic!
M256 Inline 6 Turbo
9G-Tronic transmission for all engines (I assume excluding the V12 but who knows?)
Non US stuff:
OM656 Inline 6 Diesel in 2 power levels: S400d +?
S300H gets dropped
S250d via OM654 engine
Some 2nd gen hybrids
so in fall of this year, 2016, will there be a 2017 MY S Class? If so, will it be basically identical as the 2014 - 2016 version? Is there any info that a 2017 MY S Class available end of 2016 will be visually identical to 2014-2016 BUT include the new semi AD and other new safety features of the 2017 E Class? Would seem that MB might take such a step to bridge the gap till the MY 18 availability. They must be unhappy about the buzz over the new BMW 7 Series and constant enhancements to the Tesla S.

Nothing has been announced yet but expect very little change until MY 2018.
It's possible the 2017 S-Class will get the E-Class' new semi-autonomous features before the facelift. The 2017 S Cabriolet dealer order guide makes mention of Distance Pilot, Steering Pilot and Active Brake Assist (names for the new features in the E-Class's 'Intelligent Drive next Level'), as well as listing 'semi-autonomy' as a highlight feature.
Of course, these features, albeit an older version (Distronic, Steer Assist, etc.) are in the current S-Classes already so it may be just an overzealous MBUSA employee applying the wrong new description for the order codes for the S-Class order guide, but it's something to note.
Just found this. Confirms 2017 S Class production start on 6/21/16. Ordering Guide s/b available mid-May.

I have read several times on this site that the new W213 E Class will have a REAR Cross Traffic Alert System, similar to what GM has had for years now. However, I have been unable to find such a feature mentioned anywhere on the MB website or anywhere else. Does anyone know the exact name MB has given this system and if, indeed, it is really coming? If so, should we expect to see it on the 2018 W222?
Re, REAR Cross Traffic Alert
Quite sure I came across some article that did mention having this feature on the New E. Stuck in my mind since I have need of this specific feature. Can not recall where I saw it.

Since the leather wrist rest is coming back, does that mean dedicated number keys will also make a comeback? I felt that the actual keys were much more useful as radio shortcuts and for dialling...never was a fan of voice control
