GLE63 Initial Review 500miles

Hey Guys,

Here’s a brief check in after 500 miles Really happy with my purchase.

Here is what I love (keep in mind, I haven’t been above 4500rpms just yet.
  • This thing can move. There is never going to be a situation where I say “I need more power”. The gle63 has more than enough.
  • Performance AMG exhaust (option) is absolutely banging loud in sport+. I put the car into Sport+ for a bit, carefully keeping it at less than 4000rpms. I need to hear the POP POP BANG POP. I scared the hell out of my wife.
  • It gets looks on the road. Not as many of the Gwagon. But people still check it out. Poeople who know, stare.
  • Carbon is awesome.
  • Double sun roof gets “ooos and ahhs”
  • LED Interior lighting is beautiful at night

Some odd things that could be better if you made me nit pick
  • You can not have adaptive steering active separate from Distronics. Meaning you can only use it when Distronics is active (aka adoptive cruise control).
  • Also - I love the steering assist in traffic with Distronics. But I dislike it when going above 50mph. It just isn’t giving me the confidence at speed.
  • The adaptive high beams don’t stay on when if theres a light on at a house. I guess it thinks it is an oncoming car.
  • Apple CarPlay can not be controlled from steering wheel. It is ok. C+.
  • The Control Knob and Touch Screen sit too far back for my short arms.

Yes, it appears to be a laser etching. I'd prefer it say something other than "Chrysler" haha! Like "BadAssMotherF_cker!"

Thanks for the props.

It works but I just don't trust it. Works great at 0-20mph, but at higher speeds it seems to pulse side to side over time vs driving 100% straight. When passing someone and they encroach my lane it doesnt react like i'd like it to.

Dont get me wrong this feature is AWESOME! I would pay more for it.

2016 E63 S AMG
Test drove one and would have bought but the driver's seat was too narrow for me to get comfortable. At 6' and 200 lbs I am quite average in build but the seats in this particular AMG are unusually narrow in the back. Otherwise an awesome rig.

I am 5'11" and a fatter 205lbs, hah (damn it I need to lose weight).
I noticed the seat held you in place a bit snuck. I am at 750miles now and don't notice the seat that much.

I have the massage seat and can adjust the side bolsters (on a 1 to 10 level) I keep them at 2, but on back roads adjust to 5. Level 10 will keep the air out of your lungs ha!

Ok guys. I hit 1050 miles. I let her rip a bit on way to dealer for an oil change and check up on electrical alerts. God Damn. This thing moves. I haven't given her a full blast, frankly, I am afraid to. It is so quick. This truck is faster than an audi S5 and the new Boxster Cayman. Crazy.

The performance exhaust is better than I would expect. Downshifts in sport+... it's AMAZING CRAZY loud.

The comfort, corning etc, is top notch.

Looks great. Curious about the early oil change. Is that MBZ recommended or personal choice? Thanks.

Personal choice on the oil change. Based on my research and convos, it seems like it is totally unnecessary. But since it was at the shop anyhow, what the heck. It cant hurt.
And if something is wrong now, i'd like to know. But my stance on it is tht it is over kill and probably a waste of money and oil. i did it anyway. i am a bit crazy.

Cool. No problem. I kinda remember from years ago that new cars had "break-in" oil but that's prolly an old school thing of the past.

The Side Steps are useless in my opinion. I step over them right into the car. Maybe they will be helpful when loading the roof at some point.

I got them because I think the truck looks naked without the.

what a beast! +1 on the break in oil change - have done this on all my new vehicles. Generally standard procedure on the ///M series (covered under BMW maintenance).

I wish there was a way to buy the side steps black or have them removed!

I have a GLE63s and love the side steps, great for little kids climbing in the car and i use them when washing the roof. Also they help shield the car from road tar and dirt.
