Ok heres the renntech air box on a w208 clk55 amg. See how low it is? So theres plenty of room for me to make my air box at least 2 inches higher. And if not than at least we know if i keep the same size as renntech it will make 10HP. But of course at a much lower price.

If you get a chance and you could do one more thing?
Get that paper towel or toilet paper tube (you know once the paper runs all out) and cut it exactly 2 inches. Place it at the back of the air box by the air flow sensor. Than close the hood all the way, open and check if the hood crushed it.

Id love to get a modified box for the clk55 as the c43 is now just a street car for me and dont really need the extra power there, but i would love to have it on the track with the CLK

As far as the front amg, you mean the front engine cover?
If yes than the answer is yes it fits like oem. Your air filters will also fit just like it suppose to.

Its a small drop, look at the picture. If the black plastic cover is not removed than the modified box cannot be raised. Once the cover is unclipped the wireloom gently drops under the air box which than its out of the way. Than I can go ahead and raise the air box...Really no big deal at all.
euro cars didn't have this protection cover.
do I have to unhinge and put wireloom and plastic grey air tube further down to fit the larger airbox?
do wireloom and airbox touch each other?
your MK-II version lower airbox does it touch rear firewall wireloom or hood?

You lost me here. I'm only making one size only and that's the tallest everyone wants/likes. The smaller one I no longer make unless someone asks for it. But my air box does not touch the wire loom, it may touch the hood padding but that's it.

MK II version was the slightly shorter box not touching hood insulation.
when you close the hood, do you close it carefully or slam it down?
it's no good if hood on the inside smashes onto top section of the airbox, with a massive pressure closing hood, might damage top part causing cracks in plastic or plastic clips sitting on engine breaks?
so did you find out what the best solution is to modify the internals of the airbox for best performance?
i mean, what excess plastic baffles you had to remove and what baffles were left untouched?

" i thought you quit making tallest box and only making slightly shorter box?
MK II version was the slightly shorter box not touching hood insulation."
- I dont know where the MK II name came from. I only did ONE small box which was like 1/2 shorter and than I mentioned in some thread I was going to make the tall one from here on. So hopefully now people will know no more short ones.
And the short one did not touch the insulation that I was able to tell. The tall one just touches a little or none as others have said in other threads.
''when you close the hood, do you close it carefully or slam it down?

- I know for a fact that nobody would have bought my air box if closing the hood smahed the air box. You can close the hood slow by pushing it down or like what I do, let it go when the pressure of the hood is down. Than it just justs close without smashing anything.
''so did you find out what the best solution is to modify the internals of the airbox for best performance?
i mean, what excess plastic baffles you had to remove and what baffles were left untouched?"
- Ive found out 3 days after I made my first air box for myself. I just gut everything that will slow air flow, specially the baffles. The main modification is going up high for better airflow..
I hope I have answered all your questions.

I came up with MK II (shorter version) not to confuse with your 1st airbox which was the taller one.
i was first concerned/worried if your taller box was squashed when you close the hood?
meaning plastic clips on the bottom of airbox that snaps on engine getting squashed/breaks when closing the hood if airbox was a bit taller than your MK II design?
that's why i first thought you decided to make ONLY the shorter box?
that's good no plastic clips gets damaged or breaks
I'll get back to you when I have everything worked out.

Come on guys, jump on the occasion! You won't regret it.
I'll also be doing a before and after dyno measurement using a dyno pack unit, but I first need to get my 43 serviced in order to pass the technical inspection scheduled for June 6.
The dyno will be after...

Thanks Daniel, your awesome.
I wanted to show how much more space my air box gives the engine to breathe. It's night and day compared to the stock air box. Also, if you want to save some money, send me your box once you have receive and installed mine.
I can offer $100.00. Renntech asks for your box and you still have to pay $1580 plus shipping. My box is an awesome deal, get your credit cards out, you won't regret it.
And if you don't see any difference in performance compared to the stock box, send it back no questions asked. But I have to charge a 20% restocking fee. But you will not send it back, you will love it. Just give the box 2-3 days for the computer to adjust and your set. But you will notice the power after a few hard runs once installed.

You can also remove the metal screen. There are other screens in the MAF and with filters inside the box, you have little risk of UFO's being sucked inside the engine...

Guys to save some time on emails please know that if you want to send your air box TOP PART ONLY, I can reduce the price of my air box between $100-120.00 depending on condition. Once I receive and inspect the box I will refund you the money.
Also know that if you really want to purchase one, I will need your payment with PayPal. Once I've received the payment I will ship the air box IF one is available. If none are available I will start on one right away and when done I will ship and send you a tracking number.
My goal is to always have 1-2 available. But I'm also starting to mod other Mercedes air boxes so it will be hard to have these always in stock. I've sold the one I mentioned here a few days ago but right now I have one almost ready to ship. It's the one I posted a picture above. First person to send the payment gets it. Thanks.
