New 2017 A4 vs W205 C Class Sedan
I was not a fan of last gen A4 but new one has subtle Exterior Changes and Interior I like allot. The Exterior especially has an angular Masculine look like the Transporter would drive or James Bond vs the somewhat feminine form of the Mercedes. I have included top notch photos of each, if I were in the market again to replace by w205 amg sport package I would have to give Audi A4 serious consideration. What do you think!

The A4 is more roomy and that virtual cockpit is quiet amazing.
Even though I feel like Audi could have done more, I'm truly in between . I think of the A4 almost daily lol torn ! Sadly even with the reliably issues of the w205 I would still buy it ! Car is simply stunning

Inside and out the Mercedes benz screams modern luxury with a touch of sleek design. C-Class looks like the middle class car for the millenniums while the Audi's interior does look nice(after the redesign), but can not be matched with the Mercedes benz redefined interior& exterior. The same comments that can be made about Audi's interior can said about the exterior, it looks a little out dated and bulky. It seems to blend in with all the other cars on the road, nothing special or head turning.
Only reason I would buy an audi is for the virtual cockpit which is years ahead of the competition. There is no car you can buy in that class (price range) that will give you a full LCD dashboard.

The A4's lines are clumsy and lazy..
They add no tension to the form and simply join the dots between elements of the body work.. The Grill is too busy.... on the plu side the flat and convex forms are super easy to polish and correct..
The interior is definatley an improvment and I could live with that..
The back of the C Class sedan is still to ill defined around the rear lights and makes it look like it has a fat ****.. the Wagon and the Coupe improve this singular weakness admirably..
If i thought the next C's quality would massively surpass the currents ones', i'd currently stay with the C... BUT i'd be very wary on the test drive... and i'd get the C43 wagon.. just for the extra poke..

Love the all glass dash but is that really an automotive achievement? Production wise it's probably cheaper than an analog cluster to build. The rest of the interior seems very BMW 3 to me (probably their benchmark) and I don't mean that in a good way. The Audi's FWD roots would kill it for me. Exterior does look sharp though.

i think the C class looks much better on the outside.
i was just in a b9 A4 yesterday when a friend test drove one.
there are some things it does better than say a C300. first off the dual clutch feels super responsive. my 328i has the 8ZF and it just feels more immediate from a stop and lots of people don't like the 7g tronic (don't know how good the 9g tronic is, but i'm assuming its better but not dual clutch level responsive)
the tech stuff is a little better in the A4, like android auto, car play, the virtual dash, the touch sensitive buttons , and the third zone climate control in the back are nice.
that said, there are a lot of exposed plastics in the A4 (like near the shifter and near the window controls on the inside of the doors). the materials just aren't as nice. you can't get your dash covered in anything (like the mb-tex in sport / luxury line c300s) and though the dash is vastly superior to say an F30 bmw that i drive, it snot C300 level nice (or well a c300 with say the wood trim and sport line). the buttons in the C300 are solid metal not plastic. little things like that tell you the mercedes interior is made of better stuff. I do have to say I like the general design language of the audi interior, but mercedes feels nicer. I would particularly say that I love that audi doesn't penalize you for not getting NAV (i had a b8 a4 before as well). as in, when you get the non nav interior the bezel on the LCD screen doesn't look terrible (in the B8, you basically got the same screen and it never looked "hey i didn't get the nav system" penalty bad). the C300 without comand the border of the LCD... is very "why mercedes why" (and i still ordered my car like that... )
A base C300 with nothing vs an A4 I think i'd probably get an A4. but after that the C300 just can become more luxurious and better looking (say with sport trim, and 19" etc). its a very credible job they did, honestly BMW is seriously behind in this class these days

Sorry Audi lovers but for me it's just a more expensive Volkswagen. I really liked the Audi roomy interior when test drove it but have not enjoyed that front grill and the square lines at all.

When I was car shopping last month, I didn't even consider the new A4. It looks like the old Audi with some minor tweaks and it seemed more like a LCI than a completely new redesign IMO. It was too conservative. The W205 C's interior and exterior is absolutely gorgeous, especially when you compare it to the F30 and the new Audi. I'm excited to see what BMW brings with their G20 models but to me, the Audi already looks outdated and it JUST came out..
Audi sits in an interesting spot as it's not as fun to drive as the BMW's and it's luxury amenities are lacking compared to MB. Granted I'm not a big fan of Audi's in general as some models are pretty much rebadged VW models, so take my comments with a grain of salt.
The virtual cockpit is nice but to me it just seems like it's another thing that could be problematic down the road, especially with Audi's reliability history.

I couldn't stop thinking that Audi is simply a souped up VW. A4 is just a marketing markup of a Passat. Although the virtual cockpit is really nice, it will sooner or later (if not already) be available in the VW line.
So feeling wise, would always prefer a Mercedes.

first off the A4 is strictly on an audi platform mlb-evo. like maybe that could be a valid argument for the A3 or something since it shares a platform with the golf , and TT.
but still, if all you care about for your car is the prestige of it, well maybe you have some issues. I mean a car sharing a non premium brand platform that is still awesome, woudl still be an awesome car. maybe you care too much about what people think.

A test drive should tell you how bad the A4 is engineered. 3/4 of the engine is right is in the front of the front axle. It also has the turbo lag of a car from 1992. I don't care how 'nice' the interior looks. The car is garbage to drive. I have driven it.

I have the w205 sport package in Silver. If I was in the market again I would still buy it after 13 months. No issues I would not get a sunroof though I hate the fabric sunroofs!! I also would get airmatic and 18 inch wheels, the garmin nav vs the expensive nav package and the park distance control and parking assist with Silver leather ventilated seats. Came out of a F sport lexus 350 and get compliments all the time on our car.

i'm not a fanboy by any means, but really ignorant stuff like its just a souped up blah blah blah are just prestige ****** doing their thing.

Everyone may have different opinions, the least a person can do is to be respectful when others expressed an alternative view than yours.

I think the B9 a4 (in AWD variant) will be a better drivers car than a c300 4 matic. They have fixed much of the understeer and the transmission is quite a bit better than the C class.
If that doesn't matter to you, then the Audi has better tech, more or less because it's newer.
If that doesn't matter to you, you'd be crazy if you thought the a4 looked better than the C class, IMO. It's more of a facelift than anything - and usually looks quite boring and cheap without the s-line package.

I brought my wife’s Q5 in for an oil change last week and my loner car was an optioned out 2017 A4! I think the dealer was trying to convert me as he knew I had a C300. I’ve had 3 A4’s before switching to C300 7 years ago. I must say I loved the glass gauges. The latest A4 does have a nicer interior than past models but Mercedes has past them up in that department. All in all I still like my 2015 C300 better.
