Transmission "thinks" before going from stop
Have an issue that's been bothering me. 2012 CLS63 here.
When hitting the gas from a stop, or more like slowing down to almost a complete stop and hitting the gas to immediately accelerate - the tranny will think for a second before moving.
I haven't had the transmission service done yet (39k miles) which is said to get rid of the jerkiness in traffic as well.
I don't like it, came from 7 years of the 5spd tranny in the E55 which had immediate response and I loved it. Also owned a C63 but didn't notice same issue maybe due to lack of torque.
Any input? I'm not too picky but there's no way this 7spd tranny should think more from initial start than the old bulletproof 5speed did. Can't be a complete lack of power at such low rpm.

Oh man, exactly what I didn't want to hear.
Does the transmission service actually do anything other than fluid change? I've read it gets rid of the jerkiness, kind of hard to believe though.
Hope this doesn't drive me nuts! It's a big deal IMO.

Get the sprintbooster and learn the trans characteristics and your foot and brain will get used to it like a manual trans driver doesn't have to think about clutch/shifting ... it becomes second nature
life will be good again I promise

This really is something that ruins the brute-esque nature of the car for me. Almost makes me want to get something else. But the car does everything else so well...so I accept it as a flaw.

you can learnt to overcome it, by when to step off the gas and when to step back on etc, or how much u let off.
2ndly can manually control throw gear shifters, example going to a lower gear etc

I do still have it if you would like to buy it. I paid ~$300 for it and used it for about 2 months. Perfect condition.
PM me with an offer if interested.
Cheers

Thanks for the replies, everyone.
I can't say these news are easy to accept, the thread Peter posted I think was more disappointing by the page.
I already had more than a couple instances where it was a very uncomfortable situation, changing mind or direction switching lanes in traffic etc.
I have a long commute and hit traffic so the jerkiness got annoying quickly as well.
How could Mercedes let this happen?
Regarding the sprintbooster, I also had the car Eurocharged tuned as well. Plus it's not right we have to add something to make it work.
I'm gonna test drive an f10 m5.

hold out for the new 2017 audi RS3 (thats going to be my new toy).... the 5 cylinder 2.5L TSFI has been making some huge power (~750 -950 AWHP depending on kit) and already running in the 9's in the TT-RS ... they've been running 188 mph in the 1/2 too and sub 5 sec 60-130mph
its going to be the evo of the german sport compacts
here is the TT-RS running 9's at 147.5 mph RS3 should be faster with the DCT

C63 I owned for less than a month - got it as a temporary car while I found what I was looking for (cls63, e63 or m5). I couldn't fit in it, couldn't believe how tight the seats were.
Anyway, glad to be in the m157 after a couple years wait and a lot of research on power mods I guess I missed the transmission memo!

Wow, huge numbers. Not a fan of the styling though haha. Owned a couple highly modded turbo Audis, b5 was my favorite. Owned an evo 8 too, ended up doing an ams35r kit on it and made it almost undriveable on the street but hat was a long time ago. E55 was still my favorite by far.

and yeah im definitely not a fan of the TT-rs styling (looks like a suped up vw bug) but the new RS3 will be sedan and slotted to compete against M2 market... if it ends up looking like any of the current renderings then i will be happy to have one

I love the '14 E63S, you guys have amazing machines! And of course the white/pano I just decided to go for something different to "reset" before another white/pano E.

I just turn it to S mode when if I need super fast launches. But if i'm with family or such, I appreciate the slow roll out of comfort.
The only complaint, is that you should be able to leave in S mode all the time, without it going back to Comfort when you restart. But that is certainly done that way because of CAFE regulations to achieve the better gas mileage needed.

I always thought that was the delay. If you have manual transmission car, and try to start from 2nd, it slowly rolls out (painfully of course).

if you don't feel this, with all due respect and no offense: ignorance is bliss (figure of speech, not calling you ignorant)
stop thinking and reading about this because you will start perceiving this delay
enjoy

Lol yeah really. With my E63, I just put it in sport mode with suspension also in comfort mode whenever I don't want a delay. The delay after trying to accelerate is very minimal, if at all. Not a big deal when you're driving this monstrously awesome car. Can't have the best of every world with any car you get.
