Mercedes C63 Coupe - The Iridium Silver Thread (PICS/VIDEOS)

Well had still not heard anything from my MB dealer if my C63S Edition 1 was still going to be delivered next Wednesday to them. After a few emails and phone calls to dealer I got something back say the car has been built and has moved on today to the Edition 1 special fit department. So have vin & engine number now for car, can anyone tell me how I can track the progress of my car build? So the dealer tells me they will contact me next Tuesday or Wednesday to let me know more about when the car will be delivered. Fu***** pain in the *** was meant to get in September then early October at this rate will be November before I get to see it as away end of October. Not impressed so far with MB never had this problem with BMW for any of the eight cars I have bought from them they have always been on time with no delays and have always been kept informed of the progress. The dealer also told me that one order was delayed by months then came with out HUD which customer had ordered.
So not to happy about that as if any of the options I have ordered are missing will probably cancel the car as every thing I have specified I want and already have on my BMW and would rather wait until they can fit all the parts specified than send the car without the option paid for not good.

Any photos mrgator would love to see the result of the film
Kept the stripes glossy with gloss ppf
If you look closely, the left side is inside the door jam with no ppf, while the right side is the body with the film on. No difference in my opinion.

My dealer mentioned only yesterday that he cannot option a HUD an a C class although he can on an E class. In addition he has been told that there is an engine shortage. I suspect when your car finally does arrive the engine at least will be present

@mrgator_1 Lovely job, very professional. Might ask my film chappie to put matt film on the (in my case) matt stripes!

Purely because my 640d has all options I have specked ie HUD 360 view cameras sun roof so these option I don't want the car with out would be like going backwards. Shame there was not a soft close door option as I have this and is lovely as no one slams your doors which I hate.

I just hope it turns up next week or the week after as its booked into Topaz detailing London for full detail & Xpel paint protection film over whole car so will not even gat to drive it until paint protection film is fitted as don't want to risk any stone chips driving until protected. So the car is being transported from dealer in Grimsby to Topaz London then when paint protection done in a week I will pick up and get to drive it home to Thanet.

So keeping my fingers crossed DragonRR that it turns up with everything ordered and before end of October as way to Dubai from 26th October so will then be into November before I can get hold of it
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
However I'll ask about general maintenance. In the past I've used Autoglym products for leather and I have something (can't remember what it's called but will check if I remember) specifically for alcantara.EDIT: Sonax Extreme Alcantara And Upholstery Cleaner.

Putting film on tends to put your mind at rest because, except for serious damage, the film will stop most damage and can always be replaced (at a cost of course!).

Mine has been booked in to Topaz since July to have the whole car covered in Xpel film but been wondering which is the best sealant to have put on it after to protect film and which will last the longest time with out replying to often?
As i live by the sea there are a lot of seagulls and there droppings are leafully on paint work if not cleared pretty quick. At the moment my Carbon black 640 gets marked if I am not around to remove any droppings and its sunny just burns in.
I can see your point about bird droppings! Yes living by the sea has its flying hazards. All I can say is that I haven't had a problem with bird droppings but I never leave them for much more than a day or two before cleaning them off.

so you have never put a sealer on the xpel film on your other car since you had it fitted.
Only asking as the manufacture of the Xpel film say you should treat with sealant as you would do your paint work as damage can occur from fall out and bird droppings. which makes sense being the acid in bird droppings etc so I plain to put a good sealant on top of the xpel to create a barrier against contaminants, but not sure which one would give the best result and shine.

So very nearly run in!
Sorry Michael I missed your post.
The installer/detailer put Gyeon over the entire car after applying the film. I assume this will act as the sealant since the same thing has been done on my 911 on the Suntek film. I've had no problems with it but the Porsche does spend a lot of its time under no less than two covers! As mentioned elsewhere I did have Xpel on an M5 a few years ago without a sealant (AFAIK). Just waxed it like a normal car really and it seemed fine.
