Poor Quality Reverse Camera
My wife has just bought a W205 C250 fitted with a reverse camera only.
The camera quality at night it terrible, it's grainy and very hard to see clearly, not what I would expect from a Mercedes.
I also have a W205 C63S which I cannot fault the reverse camera image (it's awesome).
I've read a couple of posts of members complaining of this grainy image at night so I'd say this is a camera quality issue.
My my question is, can the reverse camera be upgraded to a better quality camera from another model to achieve a better night image or can and aftermarket front and rear be added?
If an aftermarket camera was fitted what image quality would I expect at night?
Better or worse?
Below is a photo of the reverse camera image I took tonight.
Your your feedback would be appreciated.

Mine is also grainy in low light, however as it's not a primary car function, so long as I can see what is behind the car, it's not worth worrying over IMHO.

Wow, surprised that owners are actually ok with this quality...
Question still remains, has anyone upgraded or retro fitted another camera to improve the poor quality vision at night.
Once my C63S is back from the shop I'll take some comparison shots...

No, it's Mercedes-Benz joy-kill bean counters hard at work...
The quality of my wife's Jaguar XE rear view camera seems to be all around better for instance...AND you can switch it to rear view while driving.

Maybe it's not a first world problem as someone has said but it's definitely annoying. Also because it helps you be safer, it really should be treated with more care by Mercedes. But thats German cars for you. Always skimping on something.

I can see details well behind the vehicle in the low light condition so I don't have a problem with how it looks.

I just checked this out in one of my cars. If the car is in 'park' it doesn't show the camera image. I tried putting it in 'reverse' which shows the image and then 'park' which immediately shuts down the camera image.

Reverse camera & guide lines displays whilst in Reverse, select Drive and reverse camera remains on without guide lines, select Park and the camera shuts down.
The below camera image is a 2016 W205 C Class and as you can see the quality of the image is poor as is the image in my wife's W205 C250.
No aftermarket camera fitted & Yes maybe a First World Problem, however, I wasn't expecting a Third World Reverse Camera to be fitted to a Mercedes.
It is annoying, it's like looking through beer goggles.

I'm interested in what is looks like in the other car. Do you have a possibility to show a comparision of both cars cameras under the same conditions? I would say my w205:s camare is about the same in the dark as your pictures.

Image looks perfectly acceptable to me. Dude, remember this is in low light with no flash. And the "beer goggles" look is because it's a wide angle lens!
this is just physics.

The above pictures are from a W205 C200 loan car.
The quality of the two images are the same.
Once I get my C63S back I will post pictures to compare between cars.
Obviously a different system but I just want to know if this low quality camera can be upgraded to a better aftermarket camera or even retro fit another genuine camera that will result in a better quality image.
Some here are happy with their image which is fine, me not so much.
If there's a way to better the quality of the reverse image I'd like to hear how.

I have a 2015 C63 507, looks the same as the two images you posted. Granted that's a W204. My wife has a 2014 B250, which shows the trajectory lines.
I don't see how it can be made better. Maybe the lens is scratched or not mounted correctly?
