Lightbulb ABS SPEED SENSOR REPAIR TIP

¨Hi
this is a contribution to help you repair your speed sensor

I changed my front bearings as they started to be noisy

in order to replace these you have to replace the seals too
those have the sensors "targets" on them
you need a hydrolic press to get them in (the best way)

then problems started

right sensor gave wrong speeds and abs, gearbox ect started to freak out and giving codes

I replaced both front speed sensors
same problem

here was the problem:

this protection plate

it's made from aluminium

in the middle, it's like 1mm close to the seal target
2 of the bolt holes where broken out and the whole thing was touching the speed sensor target seal

the engine hold in power or even worse, triggers the problems above

so this is a verry important thing to check FIRST if you have abs problems !
and will avoid you to buy new speed sensors like my dumbass me

hope it helps

additional info:
The speed sensor itself can be not centered when you bolt it in
1mm to the left or right might give you bad low speed and trigger C1037
make sure it is in centered, refer to the bolt

More research

Problem with the right wheel sensor came back

so I connected my diagnostic tool again and reading speed live left and right

now, problem is finally solved

problem was also the seals (also tagets for the speed sensors) distance from the sensors.

what happens is when you push in the new seals with the press, you go untill it stops going in.

for some reason, the distance between the target and the sensor gets 1/2 to 1 mm to far giving intermittent bad reading

that triggers the gearbox going crazy, the abs and the eps
You car really goes crazy and then triggers faults in dash (3)

I found how to solve this and readings are really perfect now

I grinded of 1/2 to 1 mm of from where the bolt hold the sensor causing the sensor getting closer to the target.

You might not get the sensor installed correctly the first time
just grind of like on the picture, then install the sensor
if readings are bad, unbolt a little move the sensor 1/2 mm to left or right or side
you will see, there is 1/2 mm space
then try again

Personally I right side was perfect 1rst time, left I had to move the sensor 3 times

You really MUST have a diagnostic tool to read speeds live to test

the Chinese DP150E on aliexpress for 50$ will do the jub

dont forget, if you get weird ABS BAS EPS dash messages
read speed sensors FIRST before you hang yourself
it might just be this stupid problem !
