Ok, I saw this Armor All Brake Dust Repellent spray at the store and decided to try it. I sprayed half of the wheel on the front face and also on the inside of the wheel. I did this for one of the front and one of the back wheels. What do you think? Does it work? You tell me!
I'm generally not a fan of armorall products. I use a spray on wax from griotts that works great to protect the finish of the wheel. They collect dust but when cleaned no residue bonds to the wheel. My c is 2.5 years old and the rims look like they just rolled off the showroom floor (18" AMG). I'm not sure what that product would do to the rims over time but if I had to guess it's not good. Just my 2c.

I do an annual polish and wax and use Griotts Spray on Wax (that's the product name) at every wash. It gives the car a great shine and a bit of protection. I also use it on the wheels at every wash and they never picked up that typical gritty feel to the paint that occurs after years of accumulating brake dust.
For a spray on its ok but carpro hydro 2 performs far better for a spray on...
coatings (take your pic) and even high durability waxes / sealants (collinite, fk1000p, etc) also outperform it but these require wheels off in most cases to apply thoroughly.
Its a first for me to want to recommend any ArmorAll product, but someone told me to try this stuff and I have to admit it's made a lot of difference. I had tried Chem Guys sealant as well as waxing the rims, but have had the best results by using this stuff.
It's probably the same as the product reviewed in the video (just an Australian version perhaps?) It's kind of like temporary clear coat paint. Sprays on nice smooth and shiny - Dust doesn't seem to stick as much and more importantly washes off a lot easier.
The pads on the MB dust a heck of a lot and with black rims it's a real pain to keep them looking nice. This has made detailing the car a lot easier in my opinion.

They've changed the name of it... I'm also concerned about the long term effect on wheel finish. Anyone with any use long term want to chime in???
I thought Mercedes had fixed this problem. My last two Mercedes had really horrible brake dust. My C300 has zero brake dust.
My old 2015 C300 Sport brakes dusted very little compared to my current C450...which dust incredibly bad. So bad in fact I'm looking for dustless replacement brake pads, and I don't care if they don't stop the car as good as stock pads.

Good luck with that. I tried that with my last Mercedes, and after a lot of expense, I had to put the old ones back on. The problem was not stopping effectiveness, but the loud squeals. I was warned many times about that, but I didn't listen. They were right.

I haven't had any squealing noises anytime I switch to "dustless" or also known as carbon ceramic pads. Your squealing is likely due to the installer NOT spraying the backs of the calipers with the anti-squeal agent.
On another note, I noticed something really interesting today. As I posted in the original post above, I did the LEFT side of the car. I.e. - I removed the wheel, cleaned it with P21S, sealed it with Klasse and then sprayed one side of the wheel with the Armor All. I pre-sprayed the RIGHT side of the car with P21S before I take them off and do all of the above steps.
Due to "life happening" (kids, other important chores, putting up the Christmas tree, etc. I haven't been able to do the right side yet. So, it has been on the same 500-ish miles as the left side... I will take a video tomorrow. But to let you folks know, it looks MUCH CLEANER than the left side of the car even though it has only had P21S on it!
The rims and calipers are protected with ceramic PRO 9H. Looks always brand new so easy to clean/remove brake dust dirt and grime. The wheels are protected from outside to inside barrel plus the brake calipers too.. Its not cheap but its worth it IMO. protect your investment
The issue isn't so much that we can't clean the wheels. I can clean my untreated wheels to look brand new also. The issue is trying to keep it clean in between washings longer. Having said that, were you able to test "before and after" shots to see if the ceramic coating helped prevent brake dust from collecting on the wheels in between washings? I'd love to try the ceramic coatings, but would go nuts if I still have to wash the wheels just as much as if without them.
