There's a right tool for every job.
btw how does that thing open up, from the side? It looks like it doesn't go past the rear windshield. You think about the GLC 43 at all for the extra room, or was it never a consideration?

^Or there is that too. Your GF is cute, man

JK

But I did think about the GLC43 but for a single guy, my day to day needs don't require an SUV. Now, if us yankees had the wagon option available, you can bet your *** I would have gone that route. Plus I have work 2 work trucks and a 14' box van for my business so if I ever need to haul/tow something then I just use those.

When this lease is up I might actually move up to a GLC43/63 and then get me an e30/36 3 series and drop an LSx in it for a weekend toy/car. But I'm not going that route until I buy a house and have a garage/shop.

Side pic for you. It flows pretty decently. If I could change one thing, it would be making the OEM rack about half as tall as it is.

And it opens from both sides. I can also pop off the box in about 3 minutes and the racks in another 5. So less than 10 minutes I can tear it all down and install it all in 10 minutes as well. Very slick design.

A C wagon would be great here! I just read that the CLA wagon is finally coming to the US so there might be hope in the future.

God I hope! I've also heard rumors of 4MATIC being implemented in every AMG car from here on (with the exception of the GT cars). If I could get a C63s 4MATIC wagon then I would be happy for the rest of my life.

Or if Audi would bring over the S6 avant. Damn americans need to buy more wagons so the germans start bringing the cool wagons across the pond.

Started getting into it tonight. Not too bad so far. I LOVE v-band flanges!

Sorry it's taking so long. I want to get the before & after video finished before I create the DIY so I can add it in from the get go. And since it's been snowmageddon around here, I haven't been able to film the 'after' portion.

It's a pretty easy DIY. Definitely will take you 3-4 hours without a lift and doing it your first time.

The only part that I really struggled with was getting the top v-band flanges lined up and clamped on. I really could have used a second set of hands for that portion. I'll explain it all in the DIY.. Also, getting the drivers side heat shields back together and bolted up was a pain.

But suffice it to say, if you have a buddy helping you and a lift, go for it. If you're doing it by yourself and on jack-stands, I'd probably get some quotes from a few shops. I'm just not as young and ambitious with this stuff as I used to be so if it's under $300, I'd probably just pay them to do it.

Looking forward to more on this. Any tricks on getting those connectors off the o2 sensors? Or is it just standard pinch and pull? I find that mbz connectors are not as easy as other cars and I have a hard time with them.

I don't have any specific tips for them, no. Each of the two connectors are a bit different but they both just need a little finagling to disconnect. "Pinch and pull", as you put it.

Haha this is why I suck when it comes to making DIYs. I don't really go at anything at a scientific route. I just kind of fiddle with things until it happens.

If I remember right, one of them has a little tiny piece that you pull up on and it comes apart.

Getting them back together is the hard part. You can't get two hands in there so it's all done with just one hand... Another area where having a buddy helping out would be beneficial. One person holding from the top, and the other person coming in from the bottom.

Hey there can we get some updates if you have these suckers up and running?

Sound clips and perhaps dyno numbers?

Hopefully, everything is running smoothly on the car. OP is radio silent

I really want to know if you can hear the turbos whistle when you brake and downshift. I'm thinking Armytrix catback with these downpipes might give me what I desire

I have the Weistec DP's installed and I can't hear the whistle of the turbos.
I've also ordered the Armytrix catback exhaust which should be here in a couple of weeks. I will put up a video and a dyno chart when installed.

Why the Armytrix exhaust? Just curious because i'm thinking of pulling the trigger on the AWE touring exhaust.

Car didn't come with the AMG performance exhaust so i'm looking for the next closest thing.

I was looking at 3 companies for my exhaust, MEISTERSCHAFT, AWE and Armytrix. From all the video's that I've looked at, to me, Armytrix had the best sound.

Sorry guys, I've been MIA on the forums for a while now.

Car has been running great for a bit over a month now. LOVE IT. Amazing power (holy torque!) and amazing sound. I'm on stock 450 exhaust and removing the cats made it MUCH louder. Much louder than I was expecting, even. But even in S+, it's very docile under low load and virtually silent when just coasting/maintaining speed below 60mph. Then it turns into a BEAST when you step on it. Very exotic sound and I constantly get compliments on it.

Non car people sometimes ask me if it's a V8 LOL. It doesn't sound anything like a V8 (maybe close to a small displacement V8 from the 80's or something) but they just think it is because it's so loud and very aggressive!

My friend is being a **** when it comes to filming the "after" shots of the car but I'll start pestering him again to get this done for you guys.

Not too soon, but soon

Would love to hear how they sound from inside the car. I'll be happy with just a simple phone video/YouTube recording.

I've searched YouTube and can't find how they sound on our cars with the stock exhaust.

Good to hear man, did you get tuned? What were the numbers before and after, and who tuned it? What are your mods before and after?

I've tired that with my phone and it just doesn't pick up any noise. It's not a true representation of how it sounds in real life.

You're not keen to read sigs?

It had been so long since I read the original post, so I forgot the details. Not calling you out, but literally months went by. I see you shipped the ECU to OE. Nice. Modern day phones should pick things up, update that phone

"Literally months"? Literally 5 weeks have gone by since I installed the DPs and tuned it.

What do you want from me?

Thanks. So do you think an exhaust is needed if you have the downpipes? I'm just trying to decide what to do. Go with the AWE touring exhaust or just go with the downpipes.

My main goal is trying to get the sound of the stock AMG PE exhaust when the valves are open.
