What he said, pretty common problem like the trunk thing, wear and then breakage.

Yeah - dealer diagnosed it a while back just didn't want to spend $400+ on a button with leather 😂

Those last 4 digits before mbz are the color codes. You can also use a face-lift w211 shift knob with the round button.

I would do the round button and top it off with the AMG logo. It looks nice

FWIW...

I diagnosed mine by pulling the shift knob/switch off (boot too) and "shorting" the 2 connectors at the top of the shift shaft. If it attempts to start, it is the knob button. If not it is the wiring underneath.

I'm no MB mechanic - but that is how I dropped the cash for the new $$$$ start/stop boot/button.

MB techs please confirm......

So - color code for the shifter? How do I know which one matches?

Also what's the part # for the round updated one?

VIN number and EPC will narrow down the leather color and wood trim on shifter.

ugh, so I tried shorting the pins - maybe my wire wasn't small enough to fit the holes, would a paperclip work?

no start jumpering with 16GA speaker wire...

plus I accidentally twisted the shift boot when pulling off - i think I tweaked the pins inside the button

Ok your shifter knob and leather is all leather no wood. Per EPC you need the 9C05 version

Part number based on your VIN is 2112677310 9C09 or 2112677410 9C05 (new part number)
Cost is ~$211
You only need the shifter part.

Personally, I would go with newer E63 one.

No. Both of those part numbers you provided are for a manual transmission and no keyless go.
