I'm looking to get back into an AMG. I would appreciate some quick feedback if possible on 2014 E63 S that I'm planning to purchase CPO:
Are there must have options that I should be looking for?
Are there any issues/problems that are prevalent for this model/year?
Are there major tech options that I may not have (but may need) in 2014 which are available in later years?
Anything else that I should know about 2014 production year cars?
I was interested in eventually going Stage 1 later, but I only have 91 gas in Vegas. I know that many Tunes require 93 gas to produce the claimed numbers, else knock sensors kick in and start pulling timing which defeats the purpose of the Tune altogether.
I was wonder if going with the S would be close enough to running a Stage 1 on 91 gas? If that's the case then maybe Stage 1 will not be necessary.
Is MB scanning cars with for a Tune to deny/revoke warranty? I have to be really careful with Audi, as the dealer scans the car for altered files every time it is in for service.
Since you have already specified the S model, I would say the only "must have" option would be the AMG surround view camera package. Everything else to me is just a personal preference. But once you have a good surround camera system, it Makes life miserable without it.
Get an S model, it includes an LSD rear which is critical IMO.
Distronic is annoying, it starts slowing the car down when you are bus lengths behind the car in front of you thus forcing you into the passing lane way too early. I wish I could disable my distronic.
Night style package is nice as is the carbon fiber interior. Try to find one that's not black interior as it will be more sought after.

I concur completely. With the low front air dam, we love the 360 camera. Our previous cars (Volvo V70R's) were similarly low - and we replaced several air dams. No longer does one of us have to get out of the car to signal how close we are to a curb.
Lol as crazy as it sounds one of my favorite options in a car is power fold in mirrors , when I was picking up my 2014 e63s and found out it didn't have this option I almost passed out and saying WTF! at the same time , if you need this option get a 2015 and up .
BTW does anyone know if we can intergtate power fold mirrors???

thats weird my 2014 e63s has power folding mirrors, it's a Canadian car so maybe that's why? Very odd.

I would have liked distronic until I read this thread. Honestly, I barely like my 360 camera. Its not quite aligned

the darkness issue has a tsb from what I recall and This can be fixed, my alignment is spot on ... are your mirrors slightly folded in? They should be able to adjust this. Would be nice to know what you thought of the 360 if you were fully calibrated and functional

Interesting...very interesting. so you're saying that when you are driving past something, that you don't lose focus of the item at the edges...like it actually looks seamless?
And your camera actually works at night decently?
Why do dealers make me complain about every small issue to get it fixed!!!

Watch this guy. He had to pull in and out like 3 times to park it in reverse and make it into the spot. Head out window would have been more effective I think. The car next to him looks like a hot dog truck or cart at some point because the distortion is so bad.
So if that is the 360 that people enjoy, I would definitely not pay extra for it. it's sort of like navigating through drunk goggles. (mine is worse than the videos for sure). I've seen this executed well in Infiniti and BMW, so hoping that it's fixable.
I am going to the dealer tomorrow (already made appointment) to get my software updated per your suggestion and I'll report back here.
Mine is pretty similar to the second video and I have no trouble using it to my advatange when parking and love using it to avoid curbing my rims in drive through or the pickup lane with my kids
