Hey guys just wanted to know where does your 55 sit on a normal day of driving ? Mines is always at 90-100. Now is that normal ? Only mod I have is a code 3 h/e and I do have the big distronic grill could that cause circulation for air .
Im thinking about adding one bottle of water wetter in to my 50/50 coolant distilled water mix . Does anyone have experience with the product ?
the temperature here in abu dhabi reaches 40 to 45 most of the time, my e55(upgraded inercooler) sits between 85-90 all the time,, normal for m113k engine.
I flushed the radiator in my 2003 E500 and put in OEM coolant, distilled H2O and one bottle of Diesel Water Wetter.
My engine temperature dropped about 5 degrees.
If you do use the product make sure it's the diesel version as the regular Water Wetter has anti-corrosion additives that don't mix well with coolant - see post #9 in below thread.

Turn on the air conditioning diagnostic screen, and scroll to 6. That's your engine temperature. Anything above 92 is overheating. Normal operating temperature in 80 degrees F is 88-90 C. 92 in rush hour bumper to bumper traffic.
If you're running above that, I would verify your radiator isn't completely clogged. Take a pressure washer to it with the engine cold. There could be a rat's nest of dirt packed in there.

Thank you sir I will have a look at the diagnostic later today, and I will be washing the radiator down hope it helps .

I posted some pics , majority of the time it was at 91-92 but at one time it did go up to 95 ...this was red light to red light traffic its 86° out rite now
You want the engine as close to ICE COLD as you can when you do this. So find something within a mile or two of where you live preferably, or get a terrific nozzle for your own hose at home (depending on where you live). Last thing you want to do is shoot cold water on to a hot engine with volume and pressure.
I know on my V12 there was almost an inch of packed dirt in front of the radiator/behind the transmission cooler blocking air flow. I replaced that radiator for other reasons, but usually pressure washing once a year takes care of that sort of problem. If you see temperatures go up, its the first thing to look at.

Thank you sir , I did attempt to pressure it down yesterday but realised the ac condenser is in the front and radiator is in the back.
First post here, recently picked up a new (to me) 04 e55 AMG with 114k miles . First thing i noticed was that this car runs a lot hotter than what I'm used to. I have been monitoring engine temps in deg.F thru a OBDII bluetooth reader and in houston traffic I am seeing the temps flutter between 200 and 210 deg F (93-98 deg c).
Is this considered overheating ? What temp should I be staying under ?

Where did you get that info from? Most engines operate at 212f

Nope. 87C thermostat will do a bang-up job of keeping her right at 87 IF the radiator is clear of dirt and debris, the fan controller is doing it's job and A/C is operating.
I’m always sitting at 100 Celsius. By the sounds of things, too hot? Although the outside temp here lately is usually 40+
I had the mechanic check my radiator whilst he was changing the IC pump and he said it looks fine.
Suggestions on what else to check or potentially change?
this is kinda where mine sits constantly here in Houston, ~100 degf ambient temps... thru the OBDIIfusion app I can see it fluctuate depending on wether im in traffic or moving..
where did you pull this number from ? I have seen conflicting replies on various threads on this topic.
Throughout my years of working on cars that's the normal operating temperature across all of them is in that range. Just because the thermostat opens at a lower temperature does not means that's the temperature the car is supposed to stay at. Water boils at 212f which is why we use antifreeze is coolant because it has a higher boiler temperature and obvious because it keeps it from freezing.
