Roof issues...
New member with a roof issue. Heard a pop...and lost a bolt on the passenger side arm of the roof mechanism. Replaced bolt...but roof will not completely cycle through when opening and closing (trunk lid needs a slight push to get it going downward when both opening and closing).
I'm sure that this has been covered many times on this forum. Just wondering if there is a specific thread that I should be looking at?
Thanks,
Doug

New Shoes! OZ Leggera HLTs
Here are my new wheels! I think I may be the only person in the US with Leggeras on an SL55. I searched online for a month and I did find a member in here with Ultraleggeras and he had to jump thru a few hoops to get the correct offsets from The Tire Rack.
These came ready to install - no spacers - no stories. I saved about 65 lbs by taking off the heavy but otherwise beautiful AMG 2 piece wheels that came with the P30 package on my car. They will be for sale soon. The car is instantly transformed with less rotational mass now. Braking, accelerating, and cornering much improved by my seat of the pants meter!
The wheels are 19x8.5 32mm and 19x10 30mm (285-30-18 rear) and fit like OEM wheels. I voted against 20's because my city has horrendous roads. I was a little disappointed with the color - race grey - thinking they would be more silver. Well, at least they hide brake dust better between detailing. The more I look at them the more I like the color and style. They really do show off my massive 390 mm front rotors for sure!

THANK YOU! I'm not either. I like to keep things OEM, but you have to agree the ones that came with my car were pretty heavy. I understand why they were engineered that way - for rigidity - but, being a former racer, I know the importance of having low rotational mass on all 4 corners. Plus, I always have to get some accessory to personalize it. I always pick mods that benefit the driving experience more than cosmetic side.

Photo Shoot - Last Day with P30 AMG Wheels.
I will miss these gorgeous wheels but they had to go. I may restore and keep them but, for now not sure what I'll do with them. Cosmetically they are a 6 out 10.

I know with 500 HP, heavy wheels probably shouldn't be a concern but, I have learned many years ago how just taking 5 lbs off one wheel makes a huge difference. The rears 19x9.5 according to my pretty accurate bathroom scale measured 36.4 lbs! The OZ 19x10 came in at 21.6 lbs. They are flow forged so probably not going to be able to withstand the same abuse as the heavier AMG wheels but, for just $500 a wheel, I will accept the compromise.

My 2004 SL55 with Full Carbon Interior
Selling my 2004 SL55 Mars Red with pano roof and 36K miles (super low mileage for 13 yrs old car). During my ownership of the car, only 2 people ever drove this car: me (of course I am the owner LOL!) and the head technician from Mercedes Benz of Bellevue (during servicing my car). I live in Seattle, WA (Bellevue area) and I only drive this car during Summer and only when it's not raining outside (which is quite rare here in Seattle). Thus the super low mileage.
Fully loaded. It comes with all of the options you can find in SL55, including: Pano roof, airmatic suspension (this one is lowered using links and one touch of button it will go up/down so that you can easily go over speed bump or steep driveway without scratching the front bumper), Bose premium sound, FULL CARBON FIBRE INTERIOR with CARBON FIBRE Steering Wheel, and many other options.
Here are all the mods (I've spent over $25K for these mods including labor):
- HRE 841R with tires ($10,000): 20X9 (front) and 20X11 (rear) with 5 inch lip on the rear. You can't get any deeper dish than this from HRE. I had HRE custom-made the offset and I had to stretch the tire with 285/30 in the rear so it still tucked-in the rear fender without doing any custom body work.
- PIECHA Front Bumper Body Kit ($3500) original PIECHA full front
bumper replacement bodykit imported directly from Germany
- LORINSER Side Skirt / Rocker Panel with Chrome Fins ($1200) original LORINSER side skirts imported directly from Germany
- Chrome job for all the fins and gill on the hood and side vents ($500)
- EXPEL clear bra ($1500): coverage on the hood, front bumper and full coverage on the Lorinser side-skirt (so the front bumper and side skirts are spotless, no rockchip whatsoever)
- CUSTOMIZED CARBON FIBRE INTERIOR (Total of $2000):
- Carbon Fibre Steering Wheel with modified sculpted sports grip using Napa Leather and custom RED stitching
- Carbon Fibre center console
- Carbon Fibre Shift Knob with Napa Leather and custom RED stitching
- Carbon Fibre inserts on Left and Right door
Asking for $45,000 (including all the mods listed above). Local buyer is preferred (I am located in Seattle, WA within Bellevue area). Out-of-state buyers must arrange your own shipping and insurance. This car also has CLEAN CARFAX, I have a hardcopy of the CARFAX with me and will show it to you when we meet. I only have hardcopy because I ask my friend the Head Technician to print it for me so I don't have to pay CARFAX LOL!
I even have the VMI (Vehicle Master Inquiry) of which only authorized Mercedes Dealership can have access and print them (it's good to have the head technician of my local MBZ dealership as a really good friend of mine . VMI shows all the service records ever done to this car in its 13 years since the car was brand new.
Contact me if interested via podjor@gmail.com or my cell 206-355-5989.

This is my ride
I had a few cars but this is the one we actually kept after not having a personal car for over 6 years. Love this car.
Custom Exhaust (I have a sound clip of it)
Custom Radio (sounds damn good
Custom Headlights
This set up sounds amazing. Factory speakers with only the sub replaced. What a difference
Custom front lights, still need a buff
3 silver Mercedes and a green Jag
