WannaGo Fast 1/2 mile in GA

Attended the WannaGoFast 1/2 mile event in Clayton, GA this past weekend. My second time to try this debacle....I thought I would give it another chance. I cannot express what a clusterF this whole event was. They made a huge deal of tech inspection (had to be signed off by a mechanic/shop) and using the proper Snell SA2010+ auto certified helmet...(no motorcycle helmets allowed! what BS), then didn't even inspect my vehicle OR even look at my helmet upon tech check in. The waiting line to get to the staging area to run was ridiculous...a long single lane, people not in their vehicles (so the line bottlenecks and doesn't move), just a real clusterF. After waiting FOREVER to run each time, I managed to get in a total of 4 runs from 10am to 6PM....all for the princely sum of $275.00. The organizational skills of the WannaGoFast company are a total joke.

Long lines plague the event in Texas also.
Better to pay a extra and joint a private event.

I mean, I get the helmet regulation - you need that even for auto crossing, and you rarely even exceed 40mph doing that, much less 100mph+ seen at WGF. Same with tech inspection. The fact that they didn't seem to enforce it disappoints me.

Looks like choosing to go camping at Black Rock was the better choice though ( we could hear you guys echoing from about 5 miles away )

I'm not sure what your expectations were... But I was there and had an absolute blast as I always do. The lines move pretty fast except for the extended lunch break due to technical difficulties with the traps.

Having a SA2010/SA2015 helmet isn't something you should be complaining about. If you're running a car over 100 mph period you should have one.

My tech inspection took 2 mins.... at the event.

I had a blast as always mainly meeting other enthusiasts and getting in 5 runs from 10:00-3:30.

I'll be back in Sept. again. I think the guys do a pretty damn good job actually.

I've attended in Clayton and I will say the venue is not great for that, at least in terms of racing logistics. There is just not room to move lines of people around. Now, the event that was in NC I drove in and it was very smooth. The only problem I kind of had was periodically people not in the cars to move them. Solution, drive around them. I did it more than once and looked dead at the driver when they finally moved. Nobody complained about me doing it. Leave 2-3 car lengths, lose your spot.
