Thank you for all the help over the years!
Yep, we traded in our beloved 2010 GL550 after many years and many miles of great use. The ticker read just over 115,000 miles but it was time. Had a few gremlins (occasional ESP error, intermittent check engine light, strange idle sometimes, etc.) and needed tires (21", of course). There were a few other little issues, but we got the itch and decided to move forward.
This forum has been an incredible source of knowledge, everything from: doing my own air suspension/compressor repairs; lift gate latch, LED interior lights, etc. Way too many items to list.
So thank you all and especially for those who took the time to post DIY information. Good luck and happy motoring!
BTW, the new ride is a 2015 Lexus GX460 Luxury Package.

Nice new ride! I love the LX570's but way out of budget. Just curious, what are the biggest differences you find between the GX and your old GL?

For the rest of us it is like the blah girlfriend we all had that proposed to us and we turned her down (and 20 years later tend to regret it)

LOL, there might be some truth to ALX's comments, but I would edit them a bit.
The GL550 was a supermodel when we first met. Said all the right things, looked amazing...almost perfect in every way. Then, a few years later she started to fall apart. Couldn't always rely on her and she ALWAYS wanted something expensive every few months. It got to the point that the problems outweighed the benefit. So we had to break up.
So maybe I chose the Librarian this time. Quiet, reliable and very attractive in her own way...you just have to look a little deeper. Plus she's a "zero maintenance gal", lol!

We are still getting used to the GX, as we owned the MB for over five years.
The GX is quieter and rides better than our 2010 GL550. Plus the GX feels a bit more luxurious, less plastic and more leather, etc. It might not be a fair comparison, as there is over five years difference in age.
Getting rid of the MB was totally a financial decision for us.
- We were due for tires within the next couple of months (21")
- Intermittent check-engine light (O2 sensor)
- Intermittent ESP light (already replaced all the sensors)
- Strange idle RPM issue
- Transmission downshifting very roughly when decellerating
- Strange odor from AC system
This is just what I can remember. There is probably more. We will miss our GL550 but we won't miss the incredibly high cost of ownership.
