20,000 miles on air filters A 159 094 004
I change the oil once a year... Just cause.... I only have averaged 5,500/year in the 2+ years I have owned it. My mileage will slow down now but, it's sooooo damn much fun to drive!
Anyways this is what filters look like on a CA car at 20,000 miles. I will change probably once a year with the oil from now on.

Changing the filers, or just opening the box will dump dirt into the engine. It shows up as Si in used oil analysis and excess top end wear, tin and chrome.
Also, a new filter is porous and lets in additional dirt until it gets loaded a bit. I would never consider less than 2 years, 30k miles.
These are the 60k 11 year old filters from my 5.0

Just pop off the airbox, disassemble it, swap in the filters.
It comes off by hand, then about 8-10 screws. Just make sure it's sealed well when reinstalled.
I did an intake cleaning w/Gumout. Have to pop out the MAF sensor so as not to spray it.
