500e vs C43
I have always liked the 500e, funnily enough back when I first got into mercedes, the first couple years I had no idea the car existed! Than I saw one at a specialty dealer and started researching. I know the car is a E class and ours our C class but I feel like a C43 is a very similar formula. I have never had a opportunity to drive one. Can anyone here that has driven both give theyre impressions and comparison?
The other question is will C43's follow suit in appreciating? 500e prices have started to rise and I would think because of how similar the two cars are, we might see the same. Although the 500e has the porsche development and colorful backround.
I've driven many. They are really cool cars as far as nostalgia and nice ones are worth good money. As far as a regular driver the c43 is far superior. The c43 will not appreciate like the 500e. C43 will always be a baby Benz and the 500e was a very special car back in the day.

I assume that as well, in terms of value the 500e does seem to be a much more desirable collector car.
Can you elaborate on why you say the C43 is a better regular driver?

Everything. 202 vs 124 alone. The 500 isn't that different from the 420 in terms of driving and operating, trans is still mushy and vague, the car feels twice as heavy driving as a 202, not nimble. Plus all the older world MB everything, all the electronics, interior controls. Everything about the car is old school compared to a 98+ 202.
But at this point anyone buying a 500e is buying it to be a garage queen and very occasional driver not an everyday car. For that it is just fine. The crowd that likes them is older than the c43 crowd and has much more $$.

Thanks for the insight. I have definitely noticed a older crowd driving 500e's. However it seems to be opposite in europe and other countries!
500 series only had 4 speed tranny.
c43 is cheaper on gas and better driveability with a 5 speeder.
early 500e had 326HP/480NM where the later models from 1994 had less HP about 320 IIRC?
you are going to like the W124 E60 AMG cars!!
scroll down at the bottom and see the crayzzzzzzzeeeeeee price tags in eüro for these cars!
