Everything is a matter of taste, I prefer the aluminium look, but they're not easy to find. Too bad your broken one is the same side than mine ... and you're pretty far away as well.

The new one did cost me something like 250€ directly at a dealer in Germany.

have any of you ever heard of a bent camshaft? my mechanic just called me...he was timing the camshafts and reported 1 out of the 4 would not turn. he said he doesn't want to give me the car with a camshaft that is questionable. i'm going to order the part now, but I find it very odd that a camshaft that was operational would be bent. i don't doubt him at all as he's one of my close friends, just seeing if you guys have ever heard.

UPDATE:
false alarm all is good.

In an M156, I've never heard of it before. Normally it isn't a good idea to just replace it since something aggravated it to bend to begin with. Are the housing bores out-of-round? Sounds like a serious problem...

picking up car today. this is a video I took of the engine earlier as I stopped by to talk to my buddy and pay for his services. I do need a full engine steam clean and detailing.

I asked him to gather all the replaced parts so I can take photos for reference. Also asked him to add two bottles of Ceratec before I return to pick up my car.. Expect an update soon with those photos.

Thanks for the video ! Happy to see your engine is running again.

I also like to hear your engine has this slight ticking noise I always found suspicious when I got my car at the beginning. Shows there nothing wrong about it and it's just normal. In my experience though, the ticks are less audible with Mobil 1 0w40.
