[Gonna write a thread with more in-depth questions later sometime since I'm almost in the market and torn between a GLC63 and GLC43 for various reasons but here's my immediate question]
I know not a lot of you care about this but I'm curious how bad you guys think the fuel economy on these is going to be?
Based on the Mercedes-Benz website it says 10.7l/100km which translates to around 21-22mpg unless I'm calculating wrong on these online converters - this seems optimistic considering the GLC43 is doing 18/24/20 officially. If the fuel economy ends up being similar I might consider the GLC63 SUV instead.
Another picture. Never saw this color before on the 63. I did see a GLC 300 with this color the other day and I didn't like it. Seems too brown. Would have been nicer if they made it more of a matte bronze like BMW had on the old M5.

Fuel economy will be worse. It's a bigger engine and a little heavier too.It will probably be 16, 24, 19. On highway I believe it can shut down cylinders while cruising which may help the numbers.
My experience is that when you buy a car like an AMG63 you end up driving more aggressively to hear the exhaust roar and this means your fuel efficiency suffers.
IÂ’m not buying this article about the Bentley being a diesel. It was resgistered as petrol most likely same power plant as the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid and most likely in the next gen Audi S8!
It's interesting when you watch that clip because the Bentley is clearly slower than the GLC
Fake news (so to speak). No way that Bentley is outpacing the GLC. If anything, the braking confirms the driver is keeping a safe distance so as to not impose on the slower Bentley.

Forget about economy. On the highway when you are restrained to 64ish then you will get around 24mpgs with the 43. Around town even in economy I struggle to hit 18mpg. In sport, you'd be lucky to get 16ish. It just performs so well that spirited driving is a must. I can only think the V8 is going to be closer to 14 in and around the city if you live anywhere like NoVa with it's traffic.
BTW, I only run eco as my 43 shifts like **** until the trans warms up and my seven mile commute really prevents that when temps are mild. Outside of that I wouldn't even bother with it. Yes. It isn't even smooth in comfort until warm.

Yeah I know...I don't expect it to be great fuel economy or anything but I just want to know if it gets minimally acceptable fuel economy for trips etc. (so say really early 20s for trips and ideally not less than 15mpg in the city).
I was watching an old Motor Trend review on the C63 Wagon with the old 6.2L V8 and it makes me really want the GLC63 with the new engine and that advanced 4Matic+, but since it'll be my daily that's why I'm asking about fuel economy.
Vet, how are you finding the GLC43 in the snow? Haven't seen much in the forums or reviews about snow capability so that's one thing I also want to look into.

If you can get 15 in the city on that monster I think you'll be doing well. 20s on the highway should be zero issue. And I don't know why it wouldn't get close to the same as what I get in the 43. But in the city with the added weight and power, that thing is going to be thirsty.

Took delivery this past July and I live in VA, so, no snow yet. However, I don't have even the slightest desire to take the GLC43 out in the snow, ice, sleet, etc. I have 21" summer Conti's on there and I have no inclination to put my car into a curb or worse. Besides, with the wife being a teacher I'll just grab her Pathfinder, which has proper all-season rubber.

Thanks for the input. I'd opt for 20's on either model and can't wait to see these things on the road or at the dealer. They STILL have not updated the MBUSA website to allow you to configure the 63's and my local dealers don't know too much either. When do you guys think these things will bow properly?

LOL! I live smack in the middle of DC. I average around 12.5 mpg but that could also be because i have a heavy foot and keep the truck in Sport+ and manual mode about 90% of the time I get behind the wheel. I also have my resonator deleted and BMS Jb1 tune. I definitely like hear my exhaust with the crackles and pops and I really get on the pedal
I didn't buy this truck for gas saving, but from what I am reading on my Trip, you wouldn't like this truck for inner city driving if you trying to save gas. My previous car was 2013 c350 and I was averaging about 14.5 inner city driving.

Wow that must be some heavy foot!
I had a C300 (3.0L V6 230hp) and now an E350 (3.5L V6 302hp) and the roads in Boston are much worse and more convoluted than DC. I never really hit below 15mpg and average(d) around 18/21mpg overall, and I don't drive slow by any means.
Maybe I'll still hit the higher numbers in a 43 :p
It's mostly just for casual driving that I'm asking those numbers, so for future road trips. I'll probably be hitting the same numbers as I tend to shift in manual in sport/sport plus most of the time too.

MPG is very much driven by driving style. Some of the cars I have owned:
BMW 330Ci - 14-15mpg
Lexus GS460 - 15 mpg
BMW M5 13-15 mpg
Jaguar f Type R 14-15 mpg
Porsche 911 Turbo S 14-15 mpg
As you can see - weight, engine size, numbers of cylinders doesn't seem to make a difference.
Here are some more pictures. This time we are seeing the car in brilliant blue for the first time.
I've been seeing these pics on Instagram (I think AMG TDSO posted it initially). The car looks gorgeous, especially in that blue color! Can't wait to see them up close in person. Kind of annoyed the configurator isn't up yet and that we don't get the S in SUV shape.
