22 x 10 rims offset 41 with 305/40/22?
GL450 and I want to put on some 22 x 10 rims with an offset of 41 with 305/40/22 tires. Does anyone know if there would be any rubbing or problems of how far it will stick out? Or what tire size would recommend for this set up?

That's a very aggressive fitment so your tires will most likely stick out past the fender a little bit, especially the front. If you can go with a higher offset like 45-50 you should be fine. Otherwise you can go with a narrower setup like 285-40-22.
What kind of wheels are you going with?

I am also at that same point where I am looking to upgrade the stock 19” wheels on my GL 450. I have done a fair amount of searching on line and I have not seen any good pics of tire sizes you are contemplating (22 x 10 rims with an offset of 41 with 305/40/22).
I would tend to agree with SixPak the combination of a 305 tire and a 41 offset might stick out a bit more than would be preferable. Given that the GL550 has a 21 x 10 rim, 295 tire and a 37mm offset I would think that a 22 x 10 rim, 305 tire and a 41 mm offset would stick out about the same. As SixPak suggested a 285/40/22 tire might be better but there is very few tire choices.
If I can find the type of wheel I am looking for I am going to probably go with a 22 x 10 rim, 50mm offset and 295/40/22 tires.

So with the 41 offset compared to putting on Gl550 OEM 21 AMG 37 offset on a GL450, I believe it should not be that far out because I have seen GL550 rims on a GL450 and you cant really tell they are sticking out. 41 offset vs 50 offset is only 9mm. So I would think it would stick out 9mm or 0.35 of an inch pass fenders since 50 offset is flush?

It would be better if the pictures of the GL450 were from head on showing how far the wheels stick out relative to the fender lip as it is hard to tell. When I picked up my GL at the dealer there was a 450 with 550 wheels in the service lot and I had a good look at it. The fitment kind of looked bloated or bulgy It didn't make me want to run out and put the older 550 wheels on my GL.
It more or less depends on what kinda look you prefer. The rear wheel sizing on my corvette is a 295 tire on a 10.5" rim which looks the way I like it. A 305 on a 10" rim depending on the tire can look puffy to me.

Based off of a GL450 OEM 18x8 et53 offset:
-the GL550 21x10 et37 offset will stick out about 41.4mm or 1.63 inches from the OEM 18x8 wheels.
-the 22x10 with et41 offset the wheel will stick out about 37.4mm or 1.47inches from the OEM 18x8 wheels.
the 22x10 et41 wheels should fit less aggressive as the GL550 wheels. Hope this helps.

The GL550's stock wheels say AMG on them. I don't think there was even another wheel option to order unless it was special order or aftermarket.
And there is no GL550 AMG or 63 offered from the factory to my knowledge. Possible in the next model cycle.

Interesting. I have a 350 on order and was looking at a set of 22x10.5 Vossens on 305/40/22 Toyo Open Country. The shop said that in order to run them, I'd have to install the AMG flares (or after market) to accommodate the 10.5 rim. They said that I would be ok running the 22x9 on 305 tire, with out having flares.

I have those same specs on my Vossen:

sticks out half an inch. I like it!

Nice ride Deus.
I think in my case, the VVS 083, 22x10.5, have a pretty big lip that causes the rim to stick out quite a bit. I would need AMG or aftermarket flares to combat this issue. My local shop is quoting 3K to install the flares.

Hi! thanks.
I think the width of the rim is the same regardless of design. a 10.5 rim is a 10.5 rim. Vossen's site do have a gl450 on a vvs83 but i think its a 9"
good luck!
O Do check out their new CV7 design unveiled last week at SEMA. Looks great

So on my 2009 GL550, if I'm changing my OEM 21's to 22's, and the stock offset on the 21's is et37, what should the 22" rim's offset and width be?
22x10 et37?
22x10.5 et37?
After my search it seems that et50 is recommended, but those applications seem to be on a GL450. So I don't know how much wider the fender flares are on a 550.
Thanks for any input.

Dear all,
Quick question, I am thinking of putting on these wheel(see link below) with 48mm offset onto my GL450. How fit can it be? A flush? Please advise, thx!

MBWorld Fanatic!
Good Luck.
BTW. You may check this website : http://www.formymercedes.com/mb.asp and talk to Jerry. Many people from this forum bought wheels from him and as far as I know - nobody complained.

I had experience with replica wheels when I bought 214 style wheels for my X5. They looked fine, but it was impossible to balance them. My car was always shaking at the speed greater than 65mph and I couldn’t do anything. I would think twice before buy them or at least buy from the seller, that was recommended by people you know.
Good Luck.

GL450 new 22x10 wheels 305/40r22
I just put on 22x10 wheels with 50mm offset with 305/40r22 tires. IMO it looks perfect!! It gives my GL450 a SUV look instead of a minivan look and there is no rubbing. I do think this is probably the biggest tire you could use with no rubbing issues.
