Full Weistec build and much more on 2009 C63

I've been the proud owner of my Barolo Red 2009 C63 since its inception. Its got the performance pkg and otherwise completely stock, never tuned. Only add-ons early on were Chrometec carbon front splitter and JL Motoring rear diffuser.

Building of the Red Dragon:

I just dropped my car off this weekend in Plainfield, IL at Fluid Motor Union. I told the owner OJ it felt like dropping your kid off at summer camp, a little sad. Its immaculate and has only 20,000 miles and no mechanical issues. Daily driver in seasonal weather.

I wanted to do basically everything that I could do to the car with whats currently out there and proven to maximize hp and performance along with safety. I went with Weistec and got pretty much everything they offer. I thought Kleemann was great too, but a little too expensive in comparison.

I also added a few cosmetic enhancements beginning with Renntech widebody front and rear conversion to increase track with and squeeze 20" HRE around including 315's in back.

So here's the list, but not all inclusive:

Weistec Stage 3 system with 60mm pulley
Weistec ported heads with head stud assembly
Wesitec exhaust with LTH, midpipes and x-pipe
Weistec pistons and rods
Bulletproof tranny rebuild
Wavetrac LSD
SLS valve buckets
New head studs
Carbon driveshaft
Oil pump
Oil air separator
Trunk ice tank
Water/Meth system
KC
ROW airbox
GruppeM carbon air intake
ADV1.05 trac spec SL 3 piece fine textured matte bronze center/gloss bronze lip/Barolo Red inner barrel (street) 20x9, 20x11
PSS
HRE P47S dark brushed (strip) 20x9, 20x11
PSS 245/30/20, 315/25/20 (with drag radials for strip)
Brembo GT black calipers/ drilled rotors
KW V3
BS hood, headlights and tail lights
6000k HID fog lights
Renntech front and rear widebody conversion
Renntech carbon rear spoiler
Renntech front and rear carbon strut braces
Revozport seat back covers painted Barolo Red
Roof carbon spoiler
Carbon side skirts
Painted side markers
Roll cage
Upgraded seat belts
Clear bra

Why called Red Dragon...because it'll likely breathe fire!
Should be in very low 10's

Ill keep everyone posted as it comes alive...

Thanks for following along.

BTW there will be before and after dyno videos as well.

I would venture a guess looking at major components that parts alone exceed $60K plus labor!

Yep. Itll b $$$. Johnny is in the neighborhood. At least I didn't get the GTR brakes. Just think by not getting a BS for $135k...nearly all the upgrades r free! I thought about getting a E63S and upgrading turbos. .same price. Color will stay the same. One thing I wont chg!

If you have not purchased the 405mm Brembos yet I would go with the 380mm on the front. I have the 405mm on my SL600 and have the 380mm on my M3 and the weight difference is big. I wish I would have weighed them but just by lifting them I noticed a big difference. The 380mm has plenty of stopping power for your car as it is considerably lighter than the SL and probably around the same as the M3.
The other consideration if you intend to track the car is that with the 380mm you can use some 19" track wheels and have a much better choice of tires.

Thx for brakes info from ur experience. They were ordered but not in hand. Ill look at those options some more as I will need some track wheels but was thinking of 17's or 18's with drag radials.

Good luck with this build! It is going to be a mad machine
But I wouldn't go with renntech aero kit. Not the prettiest IMO! An OEM BS kit would have been my choice.
But hey that is a tough decision you made ... 09 pre-FL weistec stage3 vs E63S + upgraded turbo. Either way you'll definitely enjoy it!

I get it with the look of Renntech. I just wanted to keep esp the front look of my vehicle vs changing to the sleeker BS.I like the more aggressive look of pre FL, but never liked the lack of rear fender flares. And didn't want to do metal work or worse fiberglass on the rear and then have to repaint.

You have to use 20" wheels for the 405mm kit and 19" for the 380mm. I have tried a lot of wheels to try and go smaller and they will not clear. Even the stock 19"M3 wheels would not clear the 380mm without spacers and only just cleared on the inner diameter. I have about 1/4" clearance on my 20" Carlsson ultra lights with the 405mm.

So if you want to get some circuit track wheels. I would advise go with the 380mm with some 19" forgestar wheels (not the best road wheels but for occasional track use, very good lightweight wheels ) and some hoosier R6 tires or if you want to be able to drive to the track then some Trofeo R's.

If you are talking drag racing wheels then you should clear the rear brakes with some 17" wheels however you will still have to run the 19" wheels up front unless your in to changing out your bakes for each event.

The large difference you are going to run front to back on the tire size is going to cause the car to handle like a pig. You will get massive understeer when you push it. All Mercedes are built in with understeer from the factory as it is safer that way. What you really want to do is narrow the gap from front to back which will balance to car much better. The wide body kit allows you to do this. For handling you would be better to go with a 305 rear and a 275 front in the Michelin PSS for the road and then switch to the 315 and 245 in the hoosier for the strip. The PSS setup will also work well for the occasional Auto X or circuit days.

Thanks for the insight. I originally wasn't going to get front widebody and had wheels/tires ordered. But then wound up going with the front and added spacers to counteract the discrepancy to decrease understeer. In the end it will prob go with the setup u u last stated with 275/305 for street performance. In the end it will mostly b street driving, occasional drag and rare circuit, at least for now.

You sir are my hero. I can't wait to see this unfold.

Your color is beautiful and rare, I can't wait to see your beast!

You seem to have a great handle in mod choices and execution. I can tell some thought went into it.

When does it go under the knife?
