Seat doesn't move back with Easy Entry/Exit Option

With Easy Entry/Exit option on, the driver seat does not move backward when leaving or entering my car. The steering wheel does move upward.

What gives?

According to the operator manual, the feature moves the steering wheel up and the driver seat backward so why is it normal that the seat does not move backward?

I've had a c204 and now a W205. The seat has never moved backwards. They both have easy entry. On the coupe it moves forward when you tilt the seat to get in the back. I think the manual is wrong.

You may be right but like to see if others have the same experience.

The manual says both the seat and steering wheel positions can be set in the vehicle menu under the easy exit selection. There's supposed to be an option there for the settings.

The display graphic in vehicle settings only highlights the steering wheel in yellow, not the seats. The manual clearly says both should move, but the seat doesn't. I asked the dealer about this and was told it's the way it's designed. My guess is because the back seat passenger would be crushed if the seat moved back in the W205.

My steering wheel moves down, but I've never had the seats move.

Having the seats move on their own could be very bad, lord knows why thats mentioned in the manual. Just imagine a back seat passenger or a child paying behind the seat when you get out or in and it starts moving on its own. Its for this reason MB don't have auto movement on the memory buttons, to help prevent harm, like it or not.

Yes, you could set it 'on' or 'off'; nothing else. The way I look at this is that if it's not available for whatever reason, don't put it in the manual. I like to see if it's available in other country or non-US builds.

BTW, I think some MB model stopped and move forward an inch or two when experiencing resistance from the rear.

I also had 2011 C300 and now have a 2015 C300 W205, the 2011 could be set up so the seat would move back as the steering wheel moved out of the way. The 2015 only has the steering wheel move.

Both 2008 and 2010 Lexus we used to drive had this useful function. In conjunction with the steering wheel, it makes it easier to mount and dismount. Present BMW 328i lacks this function and we miss it.

Called MBUSA, the seat does not move; manual is wrong to states that it does.

In my old w203 e class the seat also moved back. It was very helpful. I'm guessing BenzC400 is right on with the c class being so relatively small.

Buy a bigger car! You need to be pretty long legged to get crushed (we are taking about a car Seat right?) Though it could be a bit painful if the seat are hoisted and your setting lower it. There ain't room for any toes in a 205.
But seriously! Is this even a problem? Nice feature, but by far necessary.

I've always wondered about some of the decisions that MB does when it comes to features for the different models. My old w211 e class did move the seat backward aside from the steering wheel moving upwards. My 2008 c class folded the mirrors and after the w204 facelift they took it away...

Check your vehicle settings. That would be in the instrument panel settings, not the COMAND panel. I know my 2007 W203 had that feature, and I didn't have COMAND on that car. I believe the default value of that feature is off, so you have to turn it on.
