Bought a new diagnostic tool its called Carly

Just was curious and bought an diagnostic WIFI tool from Carly.

Love it so far, I can get push messages over my cluster display and even check my calender along with battery registration, CEL read/clear yada, yada you get the point!

Heres a super short push message vid:

My order surprised me as I was also blessed with an unlimited 5€ coupon code: ( so feel free to share )
4ZECQD
will shave off immidiately 5€ on every WIFI dongle ordered over US/UK amazon.
As of what I understood on the coupon code was, well it basically states:
Send the 4ZECQD online coupon to
support@mycarly.com
with an request for an amazon code:
*okay got it*
then wait for their reply wich contains your 5€ amazon special coupon code.
*allright got that also in check*
Anyhow hope you guys save a few a few bucks, wish I had that coupon earlier lol

I would be interested in something like that, for example to permanently display transmission oil temperature when tracking.

However the documentation on the website is very meager. The company pretends to be based in Munich. I am also a member of the leading German SLK forum (a car they claim to support) and there is not a single post about the Carly on that forum.

So, I wonder is this really out yet? And is the above post a plant by the company or a friend to help sell the first few?

Company is a good company....company is in Germany and the Carly app is WONDERFUL.....the free version will just **** you off because there is SOOO much info that it teases you with but won't let you access. ..the pro version seems expensive at 1st at about $40us but I can promise you it is SOOOOO worth it.......the reason for my post above was because I have been working with the Carly engineers to get the Push function to work in the w204, and to this point we have NOT been able to do so....it is doable and it will happen, but has not at this time. I believe that the thread post was a plant which is why I asked the op the question. I've got lots and LOTS of screenshots if anyone is interested....for my w204 it shows 84ecms and will read every one of them, give you a DETAILED description of each ecm, give you a DETAILED description of any fault detected AND allow you to clear them....it really is the ****

I downloaded the App and played with it. It does not give me the M156 engine option under C204. I picked the first AMG engine in the menu and looked for parameters. It does not offer transmission oil temp. Torque does.
Diagnostics ran for a long time, and found 7 messages, which it then did not display, as I had not bought the full license.

Given that first impression I think I will stay with Torque.

I love torque and use it all the time for other vehicles, but for my 63 Carly is the way to go....and like you said, not having the full content is what is limiting you ...like I said before, it teases hell outta you with what you can see then won't let you go further. Also there are lots, LOTS of ecms that torque will neither display nor allow you to clear....Carly does

Hey JP, thanks for your feedback and screenshots. Interested in Carly too, and curious to know which engine/model menu selection works with our C63.
Carly website currently advertising Push functionality - is this verified?

I've found an german magazine ( chip magazine ) review about carly.
http://www.chip.de/news/Geiles-Auto-...c583-224614601

Yes push functionality works.
What I really like is the pre-owner check feature.
How did the pre owner (ab)used the car?
Motortemp./ Red line tracking/ alot of other useful parameters
Fake miles in odometer?
Stolen car VIN check.

Billion other features.
A real must have these days just be aware that,

there's really a huge demand after these OBD2 Carly adapters all over the world.
Usually sold out in a couple of days, once back on a market.
As mentioned be smart benefit from the 5 Euro coupon code like everyone on here:

Before you order over amazon send this
5 Euro coupon code
4ZECQD
to trainer@mycarly.com
and request your special amazon coupon code and exlpain in your email from wich amazon ( UK/US etc. ) you prefer to order.
( only that way you save 5 Euros on your order )
Wait on Carly's response containing your NEW coupon code specially
for amazon orders.

The company is located in munich.
It's not just a claim. Carly is the hottest **** on the planet. ( recording to german Autobild---Chip magazine---etc.

Carly is extremely costumer friendly, that means they update their app with new features, by custumer replies.

Send them an email, you'll see what I mean.
The coolest part on everything is:
Whatever you are in need for, there's nothing a following Carly app update can't fix
Again Carly allready raised it's prices because of the extremely high demand.
I personally see them raising it constantly, so we should be aware of that.

Well it depends what you consider as: is it really worth.

As for me, why I think it's worth:

Carly life log-->
Parameter life logging with an integated in-App help, wich means as soon as you have an CEL and your car is acting up. You contact Carly, send them your life log and certified Mercedes Benz engineers and mechanics start going over your car related problem and help you figuring out (for free btw ) what's the troublemaker.

Read/ Clear codes-->
No stealership dependancy

Professional Coding-->
google is your friend

Carly Garage --> over by Carly collected CEL-stats you get an car-health overview

Carly Pre-owner check
VIN check
Is that car, you or your buddy prefer to buy, stolen? Thats the cool part, I mean it's not locked to 1 car! You can check, clear/read/code a billion others with the Carly Pro App along with their OBD2 WIFI Adapter.
Are the miles on the odo original?
How did the previous owner treat the car? Redline checkup, Average speed, Motortemp etc. and much more can be checked.
A billion other features and options, just check out their site and you'll get the point.

I mean, for me personally...considering the hassle, stress, hairloss 50$ are so worth it.

Yes it actually even has some for free features
Included in the Carly LITE app ( also free )
But its really important to use the original Carly adapter, because otherwise it won't work properly, restricted access to alot of features and options.
What imprest me with Carly was you can do:

Carly used car/ pre owner check ( free Carly LITE )

Prevent buying an lemon
-how many operating hours does the car have?

VIN check from various modules
(make sure your desired car isn't stolen)

Original miles/km check
check from various modules if they match with the odometer miles

-Average speed

-Engine built date
etc...

Pre owner driving habbits
(Stomped when cold?)
Above mentioned features come with the free of charge Carly LITE App.

Life logging for various engine parameters as RPM, O2 sensor value, battery voltage, Motoroiltemperature, coolant temperature etc...

Coding, idrive coding, CEL reading and erasing, indepth diagnoses and much more

Eventhough its an Carly BMW review, it basically sums up what Carly is all about.
Just check the following vid out:

Really amazing...I have to admit.

I have used a quite a bit on my BMW, wish it could do some coding on the Mercedes Platform, but at least you can get some data and clear codes. Works great though and is pretty short money and nicely the dongle works for both my BMW and Merc.

I have been using Carly for BMW for a couple of years and bought the Merc version when I was searching for a C63, I used it to scan all of the cars I test drove the used car feature was great.
Hopefully they will upgrade the Mercedes version to have the same coding functionality as the BMW version.

I heard people using this for E90 but it was quite buggy but I am tempted to give this a try. Does anyone if you can buy the license and use it for bmw and mercedes?

Also does this work on the iphone yes?

Ok, so again I have absolutely NOTHING personally to do or to gain from Carly in any way, shape or form.....BUT.....

I have, do and always will love Torque...been using it for years and it is a GREAT tool for your typical diagnostic reading, web lookup and clearing of common, non-manufacturer specific Diagnostic Trouble Codes...plus the dashboard is far better and the performance function is really the best you can find anywhere.....but with that being said it does NOT do what Carly does when it comes to Mercedes specific programing/coding....

the following was done literally back to back with Torque running 1st and then Carly running immediately behind it(same device) and you can see there is a DRAMATIC difference.....

Torque Pro
Bought a new diagnostic tool its called Carly-screenshot_20170108-153552_zpsiottyp2g.png

now Carly
Bought a new diagnostic tool its called Carly-screenshot_20170108-152111_zps7d8cfwbd.png

...as you can see Torque Pro found absolutely nothing to report when it ran its diagnostic scan, which is actually OK because of the reason why it didnt...there were no standardized codes set in any of the MB ecms which would have showed up in any other vehicle, ie. O2 sensor, engine misfires, coolant sensor, etc....

...but what Carly DOES show you as being stored is damn near UNBELIEVABLY detailed and specific.

unplugged my drivers door harness to pull the door panel to repair the lock actuator about 2mo ago

the hi-beam shutter on the drivers side projector was sticking after i did my evox-r retrofit about a month ago
Bought a new diagnostic tool its called Carly-screenshot_20170108-152347_zpsigyqchag.png

switched LEDs in my eyebrows about 3wks ago and put one of them in backwards
Bought a new diagnostic tool its called Carly-screenshot_20170108-152255_zpsgq9jzfmf.png

unplugged the driver rear door courtesy light about 3wks ago to test fit another style

while doing the retrofit i installed a new ballast and could not figure out for the life of me why the auto leveling feature wouldnt work, until Carly told me that the module had not yet been coded to work in the car!!!!!
Bought a new diagnostic tool its called Carly-screenshot_20170108-152331_zpsqa6hi3hb.png

simply unplugged the passenger side headlight while setting up the retrofit so that i could ONLY see the driver side cutoff pattern
Bought a new diagnostic tool its called Carly-screenshot_20170108-152238_zpsvoymxwx1.png

and what I believe to be the 2 most relevant to me personally was when i couldnt figure out WHY I kept having a check engine light come back on around 100mi after replacing my head bolts.....Torque gave me 2 codes but stated that they were Manufacturer Specific and undefined....not only did it not tell me what they were but it also would NOT clear them(I have actually run into MULTIPLE codes that Torque would not clear even if it identified them)....

Bought a new diagnostic tool its called Carly-screenshot_20161224-153157_zps0i5ydoz4.png
Bought a new diagnostic tool its called Carly-screenshot_20161224-153206_zpst7i0ephe.png

...after pulling these with Carly i was able to relieve the PANIC i was suffering by finding I had left the sensor on the bottom of the thermostat unplugged and that the lower driver side cam position sensor connector was not fully seated in its place....corrected these 2 issues and all was right with the world.

....Torque Pro has been a Godsend to me and i have used it(and will continue to do so) religiously for years and i love it....when anything pops up with my Merc i will STILL run Torque FIRST to check the codes as it is 10x faster than Carly, BUT, as soon as i am able to put aside the 5min to let Carly do it's thing that is exactly what i am going to do.....I promise you that Carly is more than worth the money and pays for itself immediately if not sooner

It was a bit buggy early on for the E9x platform, but they have resolved the issues. It works with iphone, you need to buy both carly for bmw and carly for Merdeces if you want it to work with both as it is different apps for each, but the OBDII dongle works for both platforms.
