New MOD For The C43 And Others
Editing to make some changes to this new modification.
Price for the Speed43 FFE (Fast Flow Elbow) includes the part and shipping within the USA. Email for everywhere else. Geo3617(@)Gmail.com
Price $55.00
I modify the elbow housing that goes from the bottom of the mass air flow sensor to the throttle body opening.
I remove the curved baffles that restricts air flow. Sand everything smooth, primer, and paint to oem look.
By modifying this elbow throttle response will improve for a good kick. You will also notice some power because of the better airflow.
It's a nice mod that will help your engine's performance.
For those that haven't bought any products from me I receive payments through PayPal. I'm a verified user and I've been with them for many years.
I don't have a website yet but please know I'm 100% legit seller. Feel free to email if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks

Great idea George and I'm sure it will give some interesting positive results.
However, I wonder why the MB engineers designed the part with baffles. Is this to get a better flow of air? I'll ask my wife's son who's and engineer and a specialist in hydraulic and flow dynamics.
Question I have. How do the baffles shaped from one side of the bend to the other? Are they curved like the bend?

I doubt the baffles help air flow.
If that was true I wouldn't feel any gains after being removed.
And I mean the throttle response is insane!
And yes the baffles go with the shape from one side to the other.
They are so light that shipping it to your destination shouldn't cost much.

Geo.,
I might be wrong; these bend baffles will helps for direct air directional to the TB flab,,
and the main point for "-curved designed-" is when the air comes hot, (density & flow) will be differ that when it cooled..!!

But even if the guy says different I know what I feel and notice. It's like when I first did the air box, how many people doubted that the air box would not make any difference in performance. Well it did and this mod also works just as I have said. The difference in throttle response is CRAZY. I can now step on the gas pedal from a stop sign and the traction control light will flicker till 40MPH, it didn't do that before. And when at 19-25mph and I stomp on the gas pedal it lifts the front end of the car and it goes!
But I do have a different air box I modded for myself taken from the clk500. But the point is that it never did that before till I modifed this housing. This mod helps the throttle response greatly and pushes air flow faster to the thottle body opening. I can't see those baffles actually helping air flow. And if you meant that those baffles will cool the air before reaching the throttle flap I can't see that happening in split seconds. I may be off on that if that's what you meant.
Bottom line is that if Mercedes design these flaps to HELP air flow, what in the world happen to the rest of the air system design???? You know what I mean? 1 inch between the maf and the air box for this engine to breathe? And all that plastic inside that just restricts the incoming air flow? Makes no sense.
My next mod for my car will be to port the throttle body. That with this housing mod will be a marriage. But maybe Mercedes left it un-ported for better air flow, I don't think so. They seem to concentrate on the majority of people wanting a quite air system. It's like apple, they give people what THEY think it's best, and if Apple says that its best, than it must be.
I have done tons of reading on air boxes and its system and why manufacturers restrict it. I won't go into it but it's not for us to gain or have the best performace. Even AMG disappoints in that they add such low profile air boxes...
It's like one guy wrote "America has know about bigger air boxes better performance, But the Germans have yet to catch on." Take one of these modded housings and test yourselves. You don't notice any gains I will refund every cent right back to you including all the shipping charges! That's how confident I am that it DOES make a difference. Sorry for the long post.

OK peeps, I had a long conversation with "Junior" this noon and he doesn't understand why baffles are set in that elbow. Removing them will not do any harm and a nice smooth finish will also improve flow. It is difficult to give a clear answer without undergoing flow tests on a bench.

I think the baffles are there to stop suction noise. After all that's were the main suction that causes the main noise starts at.

Check out this aftermarket elbow, so nice. I didn't get a picture of the inside but I was told its smooth with no baffles. What you see is all I know. Anyone have any info as to who makes it and how much please post.

Good to know it's oem. One guy said in the link he doubts the whole setup makes power. Amg must have reshaped it and widened it out for just looks, not really... like our bodies, life starts with a breath. And the deeper we breathe the more oxygen the body carries to our brain and everywhere else. Engines need air to run, the more air the better they perform. Start with a restrictive elbow next to the mouth of the Throttle body and continue to the air box. And you have an engine that cannot take deep breaths. So to ME it does help and makes a difference.

+1 with you Geo., it looks great,,
i think; MB redesigned it to 1-piece with genuine carbon, for better flow & to transfer the heat out from the MAF housing..!

I just welded the two together.
No need for middle gasket and when I need to change the electric maf sensor I just remove the two screws...

Just ordered mine for my 55 swap
First of all I just want to say that the products Jorge makes truly make a difference. I currently have his Airbox on my c43 with the 55 swap and it just makes the engine alive. Compared to the stock Airbox Jorge's custom Airbox truly lets the engine breathe. The car has tons more power on tap throughout the whole RPM band especially low end. I can only imagine what the elbow will do in conjunction with the Airbox. Highly recommend Jorge's products as they give true results. He is a great guy to work with and a true enthusiast.

there's an old saying in american car building, "let it breathe and it will reward you in spades"
in the old days there were tons of small tuner companies who made a living just doing intake and exhaust mods on cars until the manufacturers picked up on how to exploit these same easy fixes for more power and efficiency.
i'm super interested in this too

I think that once people try this on their cars with or without my air box they will be buying these for sure.
