My issue is more the side and rear profiles/angles of the w205. Just too damn rounded for such an aggressive type of car.

From that picture, while the W205 looks great, it still looks super soft.
AMG63 - I'd actually have to disagree with you regarding a FL making a PFL look outdated (outside of tail lights -- yes this does give it away), but from the front end of the car, I'd be hardpressed if anyone who's not an AMG fan could point out the newer car.
I do, however, completely agree on the bolded statement. The lines are just too curvy for such muscle under the hood. Don't even get me started on the coupe or should the I say, the miniwagon looking thing

Given the build quality issues on my w205 what put me over the top was the build loc of usa ... And alabama...., Every time i had a squeaky bit i thought of my bama built benz.. And that just killed it for me.
The exhaust was cool at first but then seemed a bit contrived, or simulated w all the extra popping and whoomph. Sounds.
i also thought the w205 did not look distinct enough from the non amg version.
Subjective i know.
The motor trans was the best part though---- very gts like, oh the loads of tq!
I wouldnt say better, beacause such a different car. Ill be curious to see how the smaller tt motor and the softer looks hold up over time.

The new motor is no doubt more powerful than the older one.
Can you give some details on how the older motor drives/sounds compared to your experience with the w205?

Everyone has different tastes. That's all. In fact, I disagree with both of your statements.

I also think it's those led fog lights that give away the FL. That always catches my eye.
I'll say is, either model of w204 fl/pfl has a better exterior and more fitting to the cars character than the w205 IMHO.

Yea this car looks so lame I think I'll take it back today for a refund...WHAT?? The pic with the three C63's is my black 2009 W204, my friend Levitics 2010 W204 and my just purchased W205.
I hereby promise to un*****ify the W205's apprearance. Lots of CF already ordered. Performance wise the previous owner is my freakin hero, Eurocharged Turbos & Tune, suspension (not sure of brand and haven't torn into it yet) but adjustable coil overs I'm told, no idea yet? Eurocharged intercooler upgrade installed, looking at their downpipes as well and then adding a racing exhaust...a trip to Houston is in order haha!! The car has 2,600 miles on it and check out the wrap and ADV.1 wheels!! I stole it so I am going to drive it that way!!
Now some fun for the W204 / W205 discussion. My buddy is buying my 09 C63, that car is already a flipping fast, loud beast. As I said I plan to continue to add performance enhancing drugs to my W205. So last night as we finished working on a 72 Cutlass convertible top my buddy tells me he is putting the Weistec supercharger on, he's already looked into complete engine overhaul + Weistec SC. We pop a beer and he basically tells me he's going to kick my azz with the 09 W204 vs 16 W205. So two dumbasses with some extra cash and no sense will be going at it to the bitter end. Also I was talking pure trash when said I wanted 1000hp for $100K in original post LOL...thanks to my D-head buddy I'll need more!

If you're wanting to do downpipes. Call and deposit ahead of time so I can get a set built for you. I would keep the rest of the exhaust stock, don't want any valve restrictions from an aftermarket exhaust. Our shop w205 car only has Downpipes on it and sounds amazing and ran great 1/4mile times. You can hear our car when you're here in person and see how you like it! But looks great! Congrats

"Can you give some details on how the older motor drives/sounds compared to your experience with the w205?"
Launch From a Stand-still: The W205 moves out effortlessly...... the first area the TQ shines is right off the line...... almost NO pedal movement needed to get out of the hole! BEAST. Where the W204 being N/A requires more pedal input (not a big deal),,, but you really have to hammer it off the line for the same experience. (pardon the lack of scientific data.... this is drivers impressions).
20-60MPH roll: W205 TQ again just wallops you....with little pedal input. I tend to rely on kick-down in the n/a W204 for the same effect.
top end:... the tq seemed to fall off on the W205 up top.... but when I say fall off.. it is soo great down low... it seems to drop up top (per my experience).. ... the W204 just pulls and pulls more linear. Again drivers impression.
Braking - I have a lot of seat time in the 507, and some of it at track days.... so I'm biased towards this car in braking. It works very well with no fade @ COTA. The W205 brakes seemed as capable... but I have not had any track time to compare.
Steering - I like the heavier feel of the steering on the 507 vs the newer W205. I've read the W205 is faster on the ring.... but I like the steering feel of the 507 perhaps it's just familiar to me.
Engine Noise/Vibrations - SOO different. Don't expect the 6.2 liter sounds from the 4.0LTT...... they try to enhance the tt sounds with some results.... but I'm not a fan of the woomph sounds.. that part got old.. they seemed disconnected with what I was having the motor/car do... if that makes sense.
Ride Quality - The adj susp on the W205 was nice... but mine started to ride rough in all settings.... could have been a bad day in Alabama..... The 507 rides worse than my wifes reg W204.. but better than out P30 pkg 09 W204.......
Buttons/controls/switches.... never got used to the new stuff...... very different from the w204... not saying better or worse.
Feel / fit finish - The W205 had several fit/finish problems..... side valence fell off (double sided tape went bad), the side cover on the drivers seat fell off (weak snapped plastic), the doors are so much lighter and felt cheap to me.... compared to the w204... I'm sure this was for wgt reduction..... and the creaks in the dash were unbearable on the W205.... coming from deep in the dash... a long period creaking that changed tone/volume w/ the weather.
Don't flame... this is from my sensory experience.

2010 Irridium Silver MB C63 AMG Sedan
I want to like it, but each time I look at it it just looks too feminine....The rear looks slouched and it looks too much like a Hyundai from the early 2000's
The motor is an amazing feat...

Not gonna quote that since it has a bunch of images, but totally agree.
It feels like the W204 styling as well as E9X M3 styling were the pinnacles of small sport sedan design.
Like a few have mentioned, the 205 looks too suave and the F80 just looks like a damn alien.

The W205 looks much more softer and less dynamic since we are already desensitized by other car companies with similar looking designs. Mercedes has been hiring many designers from S. Korea on their latest models.
As you can see that aesthetic has been crossing over to the new C63S Coupe, GLE AMG and S65 Coupe models.
MB/MB AMG mainly focuses on the engine, technology, etc without trying to re-invent a exterior design from scratch. They get inspired and borrow, steal ideas. They improve off that design to make it their own. It has always happened in the history of car design from every car manufacturer. For example the MB (W204) chassis/design is worked off a Lexus IS300 (SXE10/JCE10). Facelift 2012+ W204 models basically have the R230 SL headlights to further stray away from the original inspiration.
