Noticed yesterday that my sunroof seems to occasionally creak when it is closed. This was on a hot day and I had left it tilted open for a few hours and closed it when I got back into the car.

Regular. It is a the back of the sunroof and very sporadic.

Maybe the seal expanded while open for so long. Mine makes noise occasionally when going over the end of the driveway.

I have 2014 E350 w/ pano roof. I thought I was going crazy! I just got my (brand new to me) car delivered this week and have been hearing these freakin' creaking sounds from the back every time I would go over a bump or something; driving me insane--imagine the discontent over hearing this in my "new" car. At first I thought it was the rear headrests and then the rear parcel shelf and the rear sunshade (still happens whether it's raised or lowered), but now it helps to narrow it down exactly. You should have seen me, I was in the backseat like a wild man pushing and tapping and squeezing and testing every panel I could get my hands on, hoping to isolate it.

Anyone else with the pano roof have a squeaking sound coming from the top rear of the car?

I have pano sunroof on my W204 coupe and it creaks and cracks when it's closed. It's especially noisy after it had rained. When I open the sunroof fully or tilt, the noise disappears.

So I took it to MB dealership and had $78 pano sunroof maintenance done, which includes cleaning and lubricating all the tracks and joints.

But the noise was still present.

Even when I took my car to the dealership and they explained that the sunroof maintenance included, I doubted it would help but since my car is 5 years old, I just went ahead with the maintenance.

But because the noise goes away even when I tilt the sunroof, I knew the noise was coming from the back edge of the sunroof (the back edge of the glass that actually opens)

I inspected the opening when the glass is tilted and noticed that there is a strip of rubber that is glued on to the roof of the car, so that when the glass is closed, this rubber piece is squeezed between the roof and the glass.

So I took WD-40 silicone lubricant and sprayed this rubber and also sprayed a sponge with this lube and wiped the underside of the glass that will be in contact with this rubber when it is closed.

Now the annoying creaking and cracking is gone!

So, for all you guys going crazy with this creaking and cracking, don't waste your money and just lube the rubber gasket around the sunroof, not the tracks and bolts etc.
